The Widow’s Fate They Chose Was My Escape Plan Chapter 10

“She never told us she was leaving New York, so the news was a shock to Adrian.”

“Chairman, Lena is still young. She wasn’t thinking clearly. She doesn’t understand how grueling a thousand-mile trip would be, and she doesn’t realize that once she leaves, she may never see her family again.”

“Please, for the sake of her youth, I’m begging you to step in. Have your lawyers help her petition for a divorce and bring her home!”

Hayden dropped to his knees with a thud, his forehead nearly touching the floor.

He knew that asking the chairman to overstep his authority and interfere in an adult woman’s marriage would infuriate him.

But if they did nothing, they were sending Lena to her death.

Sure enough, as soon as Hayden finished, the chairman let out a cold laugh.

“You forced her into this marriage, and now you have the gall to ask for its dissolution. The Sterling family certainly has a high opinion of itself. And you, Hayden Grant—what standing do you have to make such a request?”

“Don’t forget, you’re Lena’s brother-in-law.”
