The Widow’s Fate They Chose Was My Escape Plan Chapter 28

When the report was projected on-screen, the last of the color drained from the chairman’s face.

It not only detailed the Sterling family’s manipulated card draw and the forced marriage, but it also recorded Eleanor’s private meeting with me and her disclosure of the relocation plan.

A committee member displayed the board resolution from three years ago side by side with the encrypted message. His voice was icy.

“The asset transfer for Quinn Industries was approved by the board first. Only afterward did the corporate security contractor send his message.”

“And yet you just claimed the Quinns obtained approval by using this report of severe illness.”

“How exactly does a message sent after the fact influence a vote that already took place?”

Cold sweat broke out on the chairman’s temples, but he quickly composed himself.

“I said they concealed the true situation. They obtained approval first, then used news of his critical condition to accelerate the relocation. That still amounts to deception.”

The committee member closed the file.

“Sebastian was, in fact, gravely ill. His recovery three years later cannot be used retroactively to prove the board materials were false.”

“As for what happened during the transfer, we will continue to investigate. But you reversed the sequence of events to demand rescission of an approved resolution. That requires an explanation.”
