The Widow’s Fate They Chose Was My Escape Plan Chapter 29

The chairman tried to shove all responsibility onto the security contractor.

“He was the one who reported the critical condition. If the information was false, the negligence was his.”

No sooner had he said it than the hearing room door opened.

The contractor entered with a lawyer at his side.

Three years had aged him. The chairman clearly hadn’t expected him to appear; his fingers slammed down on the table.

“What are you doing here?”

The contractor didn’t look at him. He simply placed the encrypted device he had used in front of the special committee.

“I was assigned by Hudson Crest to observe Sebastian Quinn’s condition. The device, transmission logs, and receiving terminals all belong to the company. I never deleted anything.”

The chairman barked, “You’re violating confidentiality obligations!”

“Hudson Crest’s special committee required me to return company equipment.”

That single sentence left him speechless.

Technical staff verified the device on the spot. Soon, the screen displayed the transmission record from three years ago. The receiving terminal did indeed belong to the chairman’s office.

The contractor spoke in a low voice.

“I reported only the changes in vital signs I observed. I never said Mr. Quinn would die. As for the claim that Ms. Hart was willing to die with him—that message did not come from me.”
