I Died In His Arms Now I’ll Marry Another Chapter 14

After the match, Queen Evelyn allowed me to wash up and change in a guest room at the Royal Estate.

To reach the guest rooms, I had to cross a small bridge over an artificial stream.

When I got to the bridge, I saw Adrian standing on the other side.

I took a wary step back.

“I don’t mean any harm. I only want to ask you one question.”

Adrian retreated first, giving me space.

“Have we met before?”

“No.”

I answered without hesitation.

He said quietly, “But I dream about you. Often. Entire nights pass where I can’t sleep.”

“Are you planning to blame the grievances from your dreams on me, too?”

I cut him off coldly.

“They aren’t grievances.”

Adrian lowered his eyes.

“I love you very much in them.”

The hand hidden in my sleeve trembled sharply.

“Why does my heart ache every time I see you? Why do I dream that we were married, that we were once so intimate?”

His voice turned bitter.

“And why, in reality, do you avoid me like an enemy—and insist on marrying someone else?”

I was silent for a moment.

“Dreams are often the opposite of reality. Just as in this life, you and I have nothing to do with each other.”

“I don’t want us to have nothing to do with each other.”

Adrian stepped forward too quickly.

“I’m the heir to Stonebrook Pack. I have a career of my own. I can give you a stable life. I would respect you and protect you.”

“Why can’t you consider me?”

In my last life, he had made promises much like these.

And in the end, I had died in his arms with our child.

“Don’t come any closer.”

I stepped back again.

“My reputation is bad enough as it is. I finally have a chance to get married. If you truly pity me, then stop seeking me out.”

Adrian froze where he stood.

After a long moment, he said hoarsely, “All right. I’m sorry.”
