My Fiancé Chose Her So I Chose Myself Chapter 10

My Fiancé Chose Her So I Chose Myself Chapter 10

Travis just stared at me, as if searching my face for the woman I had been three years ago.

He didn’t find her.

The Natalie who always apologized first, who always tried to make him happy, no longer existed.

The woman standing before him was Northstar’s head of acquisitions.

“It really is you.” Travis took a shaky step toward me, his voice trembling.

He reached out, trying to grab my wrist.

My wolf bristled, its guard shooting up the instant he came near.

“Mr. Vale.” I stepped back half a pace. “Please keep your distance.”

Two hotel security guards immediately moved closer, positioning themselves between us.

Travis froze, his hand still half-raised. He caught the scent of my new pack on me, and the blood drained from his face.

“Natalie, where have you been for three years?”

Evan finally snapped out of his shock. He stepped to Travis’s side, his voice tight with anger.

“Do you have any idea how long we looked for you? You just vanished from our lives, from the group link, without a single word. What did you think we were to you?”

He was still questioning me in that same old tone, as if he expected me to lower my head and explain myself.

I looked at him calmly.

“Mr. Bennett, this is a Northstar business dinner and part of a cross-territory licensing negotiation. Is this how you normally address a partner representative?”

Evan’s breath hitched.

“What did you just call me?”

“Mr. Bennett,” I repeated. “If you’re here to discuss the acquisition, my team can meet you in the VIP room. If you want to discuss the past, I’m afraid I don’t have time.”

I turned and walked back to the main table without giving them another glance.

Halfway through the dinner, I excused myself to go to the restroom.

As soon as I rounded the corner into the hallway, Jenna stepped out and blocked my path.
