King Adrian was so furious his body swayed.
Just then, the council chamber’s emergency screen flared to life.
A top-priority encrypted transmission from the northern war zone was cutting into the royal system.
On the screen, the communications officer of the northern allied army stood before the newly fallen royal capital of Cassia.
“Reporting to King Adrian, Alpha Marcus has led the allied forces through Cassia’s final defensive line.”
“The King of Cassia has just signed the surrender agreement. The border war is over. Alpha Marcus will return to the capital after completing the handover.”
The whole council chamber fell silent.
Lucian’s face was ashen.
He whipped his head toward the screen.
“What did you say?”
The officer repeated the victory report and uploaded the electronic files bearing the signatures of both kingdoms, along with on-site footage.
An Alpha who had just won a war for Vislan and forced the enemy to surrender could not possibly be selling his territory to that same enemy.
King Adrian returned to his chair at the head of the chamber, forcing himself to calm down.
“Head of the security committee, where is the original evidence in Ironvale’s treason case?”
