He Stole My Children I Refused His Crown Chapter 27
I raised my hand and pulled the trigger.
A silver-core round, designed specifically to stop a feral wolf, tore through Lucian’s throat, instantly severing his ability to heal.
The rest of his sentence died in his mouth.
Lucian clutched at his neck, the fury in his eyes quickly melting into disbelief.
A few seconds later, he hit the floor.
I slowly slid down the column and sat on the cold stone.
In the distance, the sounds of gunfire and fighting began to fade.
Damien broke through the outer blockade with Elliot’s personal guard, wiping out the last of the attackers.
Maya stumbled out of the storage room and threw herself down in front of me.
When she saw my hands covered in blood, her tears splashed onto my shoulder.
“The cut is deep! We need a Healer, now!”
“It didn’t hit anything vital.”
I pressed a hand to my arm. The wound was already beginning to heal, but the blood loss left me dizzy.
After confirming Lucian was dead, Damien walked over to me.
A bullet had torn through his shoulder, but he still stood ramrod straight.
“I was late.”
“How are things at the castle?”
“Prince Elliot has taken control of the security center and communications. The Chief Royal Healer found a high concentration of wolfsbane in King Adrian’s body. The castle access logs show Queen Helena entered the medical suite alone just before his death.”
“The evidence is complete. She and Lucian launched the coup and murdered the King. She’s being held in the royal council chamber now.”
Lucian was dead.
Queen Helena had lost her last armed force and her last heir.
This struggle, which had stretched across two lifetimes, was finally nearing its end.
After a Healer bandaged my arm, I got into an armored SUV driven by Damien and headed for the royal castle.
The roads were lined with royal guard checkpoints all the way.
