His Love Is Not Visible Chapter 13
Once he was with someone, I naturally retreated back into the role of a friend.
They broke up half a year later. It wasn’t until after graduation that Ethan and I grew close again.
Later, he went to Europe, and I came to Utah.
I had always been grateful that he never acknowledged my short-lived crush.
Maybe he sensed it, but he gave me the space I needed.
Friendship was the safest distance between us.
During college, my grandfather became seriously ill, and my parents burned through their savings on his medical bills.
Ethan’s parents lent us some money. When Ethan found out, he sent me some of his living expenses, too.
“Lulu, you’re losing too much weight,” he’d said on a video call. “Go buy some real food.”
It was just enough to ease the pressure without making me feel like I could never repay him.
I had never forgotten his kindness.
Garrett leaned back against the sofa, his eyes narrowing slightly.
“Laura, he’s a man. Why is it impossible?”
I decided to be direct.
“I had a crush on him in high school. Once he realized it, he immediately got a girlfriend.”
The smile vanished from Garrett’s face.
