His Love Is Not Visible Chapter 12
Ethan and I hadn’t seen each other in years, but there was no awkwardness between us.
We talked for a long time.
We talked about old school memories and about his decision to move back to the States.
After dinner, I dropped him off at his hotel and then went home.
Garrett had already showered and changed into loungewear.
Without the suit and tie, he didn’t look quite so cold.
“You’re back.”
“Mhm.”
“I’ve never seen that friend of yours before. I don’t think he was at our wedding, either.”
“He wasn’t. He was studying in Europe then and stayed there to work. He couldn’t make it back for the wedding.”
Garrett’s tone was casual.
“So when you went to the airport tonight, it wasn’t to pick me up?”
I felt a little embarrassed.
“I forgot you were coming back today.”
He froze for a second, as if it had never occurred to him that I could forget.
A few seconds later, he said, “Laura, he likes you.”
“You’re overthinking it. There’s no way.”
In my senior year of high school, I had nearly fallen for Ethan.
That crush had barely begun before he got a girlfriend.
