His Love Is Not Visible Chapter 11

I forgot.

Ethan looked down at me.

“Have you lost weight?”

Garrett wheeled his suitcase over.

He stopped in front of us, glanced at his watch, then slid an arm around my waist, very naturally placing himself between me and Ethan.

My smile faltered.

Garrett lowered his eyes to me, a surprising trace of amusement in them.

“Laurie, who’s this?”

I shifted, trying to get out from under his arm. He noticed and only held me tighter.

I still managed to pull free.

“Ethan Parker, my high school classmate.”

“This is Garrett.”

I paused, unsure how to introduce him.

Garrett did it for me.

“Hello, I’m Garrett Bancroft. Laurie’s husband. We were married three years ago.”

Ethan smiled politely.

“Ethan Parker.”

Then his gaze returned to me.

“You promised to take me to a good restaurant. Shall we?”

I nodded, then looked at Garrett.

“Garrett, I’m taking Ethan to dinner. Has your driver arrived?”

Garrett’s gaze dropped to me, then he said to Ethan, “Since you’re Laurie’s friend, and I haven’t had dinner yet, why don’t we all go together?”

Could he really not tell we wanted to catch up alone?

“I only booked a table for two.”

Garrett’s expression darkened.

I continued, “You can wait here for Marcus. I’ll take Ethan over first.”
