His Love Is Not Visible Chapter 16

His Love Is Not Visible Chapter 16

I had already rented an apartment near my office.

On moving day, I didn’t tell Garrett.

He called after he got home from work. By then, the last box had already been carried into my new place.

His voice was urgent.

“You moved out?”

“Yes.”

He let out a low, cold laugh.

“I haven’t agreed to a divorce.”

I thought for a second.

“What is it? Vanessa’s married now, so you can’t go back to her?”

Silence fell on the other end of the line.

Garrett quickly understood my implication.

When he spoke again, his voice was rough.

“Laura, I don’t want a divorce because I can’t let you go.”

I didn’t believe him.

I hung up and tossed my phone onto the sofa.

During a company status meeting, I suddenly blacked out.

My coworkers called an ambulance and contacted Garrett and Megan.

Megan was out of state on business and couldn’t get back right away. Knowing Ethan had moved to Salt Lake City, she called him, too.

After the doctor treated my infection and the sedative began to wear off, I opened my eyes.

Garrett stood on the left side of the bed. Ethan stood on the right.

After reviewing the test results, the doctor asked me, “You developed a post-op infection. After the miscarriage, didn’t you rest as instructed?”

Garrett’s head snapped up. The color drained from his face.

“I’m her husband. Can we speak outside?”

Ethan followed them out.

After the doctor left, Ethan’s furious shout echoed from the hallway.

“Garrett, you son of a bitch.”

Then came a dull thud.
