His Love Is Not Visible Chapter 18
When I woke up again, Garrett’s parents and Walter were all in the room.
His mother, Patricia, was sitting by the bed.
“Laurie, how are you feeling?”
“I’m fine.”
I looked at them.
“Patricia, Charles, Walter… I need to speak with Garrett alone for a few minutes.”
After they left, only the two of us remained.
I really had loved Garrett.
But once I stopped expecting him to change, all I felt was relief.
My decision hadn’t changed. It never would.
“Garrett, you need to seriously consider the divorce.”
“The lawyers will prepare a fair settlement. I don’t want a public fight.”
“You must have felt it these past few months. I can’t trust you anymore.”
Garrett had always hated showing emotion in front of other people. Now, his lashes trembled, and tears pooled in his eyes.
“I’m sorry.”
“I know anything I say now sounds like an excuse. But I still need to apologize for what I said that day.”
