He Protected My Baby’s Killer So I Left Him Chapter 07

When they got back to the apartment, Isabella was in the living room, unpacking her new purchases.

The moment she saw them, she smiled and held up a floor lamp.

“Perfect timing.”

“Help me decide—bedroom or study?”

No one answered.

The smile slowly froze on her face.

Matteo’s gaze shifted to the nursery, which had been turned into Isabella’s room.

“Where are Soleil’s things?”

Isabella instinctively glanced at Marco.

Marco closed his eyes for a brief second.

“She took them.”

“What about the baby’s things?”

This time, no one spoke.

Matteo shoved the nursery door open.

Tiny holes still marked the wall where the cloud-shaped light had been.

Where the crib once stood, Isabella’s new vanity now sat.

A shopping receipt was stuck to the mirror.

The time stamp read 2:07 p.m. Today.

At that exact moment, I had been lying on an operating table.

And they had been helping Isabella pick out furniture.

With a violent sweep of his arm, Matteo sent everything on the vanity crashing to the floor.

Isabella stumbled back, startled.

“Matteo, what is wrong with you?”

He turned to her, his eyes rimmed with red.

“Get out.”

“This is my home.”

“I said, get out!”

Tears immediately welled in Isabella’s eyes.

If this had happened before, they all would have rushed to comfort her.

But this time, not one of them moved.

Because they finally understood.

I hadn’t just left.

They had driven me away, piece by piece.
