He Sold Me Into Slavery I Returned As Queen Chapter 08

Alaric took a violent step forward.

“That was Ella’s birth pendant!”

Rosalie clapped a hand over her mouth, her body swaying.

Silas said, “Three days after the festival, a young boy came to Reed’s Old Goods to pawn this item. He took twelve gold coins for it.”

“The shopkeeper saw the girl’s name engraved on it and asked a few questions.”

“The boy said his little sister had died of illness, and the family urgently needed money for her burial.”

The chief judge opened the old goods shop’s transaction ledger.

“The pawner identified himself as Cedric, about thirteen years old, with a mole at the end of his eyebrow and a burn scar on his left hand.”

Every eye in the hall turned to Cedric.

Instinctively, he tried to hide his left hand in his sleeve.

It was too late.

Lucian’s voice was cold enough to freeze the air.

“Hold out your hand.”

Cedric stiffened.

A guard stepped forward and pulled his left hand free.

Between his thumb and forefinger, a faint brown scar was clearly visible.

I looked at it and said softly, “You got that burn when you pulled a toy out of the hearth for Rosalie.”

“That day, I shared my mother’s healing salve with you.”

“Cedric, you used my medicine to heal your hand, and then you used my life to buy yourself gold.”

“Have you forgotten that, too?”

The last trace of color drained from his face.
