He Sold Me Into Slavery I Returned As Queen Chapter 07

I asked, “Fifteen years ago, on the Full Moon Festival, did you take a fare out of the city?”

Owen nodded.

“I did.”

“After midnight, a young boy hired my wagon from the alley behind Festival Square to Willow Slope, just outside the South Gate.”

“He was carrying a little girl and said his sister had suddenly fallen ill and needed to be taken to an estate outside the city.”

Cedric asked coldly, “And you remember this boy?”

Owen looked up at him.

“After fifteen years, I might not remember the face. But I remember your hand.”

“When you paid me, I saw your left hand. That burn scar was plain as day.”

“You also complained that the wagon was too slow and said if anything went wrong, the Raine family wouldn’t let me off.”

Alaric’s face had gone white.

Owen took a worn page from his coat.

“The caravan kept route records. That night’s entry says: youth surnamed Vale, girl child in red cloak, South Gate, Willow Slope.”

After examining it, the chief judge announced, “The paper and ink match the surrounding entries. There are no signs of tampering.”

Cedric’s breathing hitched.

He still refused to admit it.

“Witnesses can be bribed.”

“And the ledger still doesn’t have my full name.”

I smiled faintly.

“Then let’s look at one more thing.”

Silas Reed, an old-goods dealer, was brought in.

He held a wooden box in both hands and bowed before the throne.

The box was opened.

Inside lay a gold birth pendant.

The surface had tarnished with age, but the engraving was still clear.

May Ella grow up safely.
