His Lesson Killed My Mother Now He Will Pay Chapter 16

“I’m here.”

When Graham finally answered, his voice was a raw whisper. The cameras zoomed in, bleaching the last of the color from his face.

“Good.”

Aisha stepped onto the stage and handed a folder to the media in the front row.

“Elena Reyes died at 11:47 p.m. on the night of the hurricane. Cause of death: delayed medical intervention due to flood entrapment. The payer for the accessible evacuation vehicle, as well as the emergency contact, was Mr. Graham Vale.”

She turned to the next page.

“That same night, Nora Reyes made multiple 911 calls. By then, the roads had been closed, and emergency responders could not get through.”

The only sound in the room was the frantic clicking of camera shutters.

The big screen lit up with a screenshot of the cancellation order. The time stamp was unmistakable—it was after my mother’s condition had worsened.

Aisha pointed to the bottom of the record.

“The IP address used to request the cancellation matches one of Mr. Vale’s regular devices. The electronic signature authorizing the cancellation is also his.”

Graham stared at the screen, his lips trembling. He jerked his head up and looked at me.

“Why didn’t anyone tell me?”

I met his gaze, my own quiet and unyielding.

I didn’t answer.
