My Composure After Divorce Became His Greatest Torment Chapter 12

That custody draft and delivery plan became my ultimate leverage.

My lawyer slid the asset schedule toward me. “The Back Bay apartment is registered in your name. The cash settlement has been paid in full. The investment account has also been transferred—lifetime beneficiary, irrevocable.”

The total far exceeded the cap stipulated in our prenup.

I verified every item, then signed the final divorce agreement.

As I walked out of the office, Caroline was walking in, her arm linked through Nathan’s. She held a prenuptial agreement in her hand, smiling like she’d just won a war.

Half an hour later, they emerged. Caroline deliberately stopped in front of me.

“Now you’re the one who’s been cast out.”

I smiled. “The divorce is final. Nathan and I are strangers now.”

Her eyes dropped to my stomach, her voice turning vicious.

“Strangers? You were pregnant with his child. When it comes down to it, you were just a surrogate for me.”

I looked at her, feigning surprise.

“Oh, about that—you don’t need to worry anymore.”

Nathan’s head snapped up.

I calmly straightened the documents in my hands.

“I terminated the pregnancy. Congratulations on your wedding.”

The smile on Caroline’s face shattered. “You what?” she shrieked.

“How dare you terminate the pregnancy?”
