My Surgeon Husband Rebuilt My Face To Match His First Love’s Chapter 06
The Man Who Ruined Me
“I love you,” Graham says.
His voice is hoarse, but every word is clear.
“I have always loved you.”
I stand outside Violet’s hospital room, one hand gripping the doorframe, listening to my husband confess his love to another woman.
I do not know when I started crying. By the time I realize it, my face is already wet.
Inside the room, Violet looks moved.
She leans closer to Graham, slowly, like she is about to kiss him.
Then she stops.
As if she suddenly remembers something, tears spill down her face again. She turns her head away sharply, her voice breaking.
“I can’t do this,” she says. “You’re married. You have a wife who loves you, and now you have a child. But I…”
She chokes on a sob.
“I’m in so much pain, Graham.”
Graham’s voice drops lower.
“Violet, the one I love has always been you.”
The room seems to go silent around me.
“I only thought you were never coming back,” he says. “I married her because she had a face like yours.”
My fingers dig into the doorframe.
He keeps going, each word calm enough to destroy me.
“You will never know how much I love you. To create another you, I did everything I could. I even…”
He pauses.
Then the last piece of my life falls apart.
“I even made sure she lost her face. Then I gave her yours.”
My whole body starts shaking.
“I was so happy when I saw her after the surgery,” Graham murmurs. “It felt like my Violet had come back to me.”
For a second, the hospital sounds fade.
Only the crash remains.
In my memory, the heavy truck is driving normally beside me at first. Then it suddenly swerves into my lane.
The front of my car crumples under the impact. Glass cuts across my face. Screams break out around me, sharp and terrified.
Blood runs into my eyes.
And now I finally understand, the accident was never an accident.
Graham did not save me from the darkness.
He pushed me into it.
All these years, I have held on to him like he was the person who pulled me out of death.
I loved him, trusted him, let him touch my face, let him call me his masterpiece.
But the man I thought was my savior is the reason I was ruined.
For Violet, he built a lie big enough to bury my whole life under it.
My stomach cramps.
I press one hand to my lower belly and slide down the wall, shaking so hard I can barely stay upright.
Inside the room, the two of them are kissing now.
After a long time, I wipe my face with the back of my hand. My fingers tremble as I take out my phone.
The screen blurs, so I blink until I can see again.
It is still early in the pregnancy. The doctor already said that.
I cannot let Graham use this child to chain me to him.
My hand shakes when I confirm it.
For a moment, I close my eyes and press my palm gently over my stomach.
“I’m sorry,” I whisper, though no one can hear me. “I’m so sorry.”
I stand slowly, using the wall to hold myself up.
Graham took my face, took every beautiful memory and turned it into proof of how completely he had used me.
But he does not get to take the rest of my life.
Not anymore.
