Premature Labor After The Alpha Took My Hospital Bag Chapter 04
My body lay on the bathroom tiles. Every contraction made me wish for death.
I bit down on a towel, my lips chewed raw and bloody.
I couldn’t scream. I had to preserve every last drop of energy.
It felt like the blood was draining out of me completely.
The pup’s head was stuck in the birth canal. I pushed with everything I had, but it wouldn’t come.
“Baby, please. Come out. Please.”
I begged silently, desperately.
Then the communication crystal in the living room suddenly came alive.
The sound of cheering erupted from the maternity ward.
“Congratulations, Alpha! It’s a boy—mother and child are both healthy!”
The nurse’s voice rang out.
Then came the loud, piercing cry of a newborn.
Dennis’s voice trembled with excitement.
“Alina, did you hear that? We have a son.”
“Thank you. You worked so hard. I’m going to share this good news with everyone.”
He even broadcast this joy to me through the speaker, forcing it upon me.
“Melinda, did you hear that?”
“Alina gave me a son.”
“You’re always using the pup in your belly to manipulate me, aren’t you?”
“Well, I don’t need it anymore.”
“Stay home and reflect. When I’m in a good mood, I’ll come back and deal with you.”
I pressed my hand against my belly. Nothing. No movement at all.
My pup hadn’t stirred in a long time.
Dennis, I owe you nothing now.
I spat out the towel. My eyes went eerily calm.
Bracing against the sink, I struggled to my feet.
Blood cascaded down my legs.
I raised the rusted scissors in my hand.
I didn’t aim them at my belly. I drove them into the thing mounted on the wall.
Once. Twice.
The casing cracked apart.
This was the only way I could think of to summon outside help.
The fire alarm.
A piercing shriek tore through the entire floor.
“Dennis, I’m dead. Are you happy now?”
“Remember this—you killed your own pup with your own hands!”
Dennis’s frantic roar blasted from the crystal.
“Melinda! Have you lost your mind!”
“You dare curse my pup—you really do have a death wish!”
I leaned against the wall, listening to the chaotic footsteps rushing toward the door, and let my eyes close.
Feeling my life force ebbing away, a grim smile tugged at the corner of my mouth.
A tremendous crash—and I lost consciousness completely.
A gentle voice reached my ears, and a sacred light enveloped me.
I tried to open my eyes, to see what was before me, but even with all my remaining strength, my eyelids barely flickered.
Something caressed my belly. I heard a sigh.
“You’ve suffered enough, my child.”
With that soft murmur, I felt something sever completely.
The fated bond between Dennis and me.
A single, crystalline snap—and the world finally fell silent.
In the premium ward of the infirmary, Dennis was tenderly cradling Alina’s newborn.
Something slipped beyond his grasp, a sting in his heart, but the joy of having a son quickly buried it.
He leaned down and kissed Alina’s forehead, his eyes brimming with paternal pride.
His phone rang. It was his Beta.
“Alpha, the rescue team broke down your front door. There’s blood everywhere inside.”
“Your Luna is gone.”
