Premature Labor After The Alpha Took My Hospital Bag Chapter 05

The sharp scent of medicinal herbs stung my nostrils. I opened my eyes, and the crystal chandelier overhead made my head swim.

Fragments of what happened before I blacked out came back to me.

I’d smashed the fire alarm. The piercing siren had echoed through the entire floor.

The rescue team had broken through the door and found me hemorrhaging on the floor.

A nurse noticed I was awake and pressed the call button by the bed. The doctor arrived shortly with my chart, pity written in his eyes.

“Miss Melinda, you were brought in too late. The pup suffocated in utero. We did everything we could to save your uterus.”

His words crashed against my eardrums. I reached for my flat belly—no movement, nothing. My pup had died in that dark bathroom.

No tears came. My heart had died alongside the child who never drew breath. All that remained was hatred, cold and absolute.

“Doctor, please—don’t tell anyone I’m here. Especially not my Alpha.”

The doctor sighed and nodded, then turned and left the room.

Fighting through the searing pain in my lower body, I dialed Shirley on the voice call.

She heard something wrong in my voice immediately, demanding to know what happened.

“Don’t ask questions. Dennis is going to cut off my brother’s treatment. You have to get to him first—transfer my brother back to our clan.”

I ended the call. Instantly, over a dozen voice messages from Dennis flooded in. I tapped the first one.

“Melinda, you’ve got some nerve. You actually had someone break down the door? You think splashing pig’s blood everywhere is going to scare me?”

“Alina just gave birth and can’t handle stress. You’d better get back here and apologize to her right now, or I’m pulling the plug on your brother’s treatment immediately!”

Listening to his imperious tone, my stomach turned. Even now, he thought I was acting.

He’d killed our pup for Alina’s sake, and now he was using my brother’s life as leverage.

I didn’t reply. I closed my eyes and gathered my strength.

Two hours later, Shirley messaged to say my brother had been safely transferred—out of danger.

The weight finally lifted from my chest. Looking at the overcast sky through the window, I knew the real reckoning was only beginning.

Dennis, you owe me a life. I’m going to collect a thousandfold.

The door swung open and Shirley burst in, out of breath.

Seeing my pallid face, her eyes reddened.

“Melinda, what happened to you? What did that animal Dennis do?”

I took her hand and recounted everything that had happened at the house, my voice level and calm.

Shirley shook with fury and grabbed her phone to contact the pack, but I stopped her.

“That would let him off too easy. I want him ruined. I want him to know what it feels like to lose everything.”

“Shirley, I need a favor. Find a shaman and get a blood lineage test done on Alina’s baby. As fast as possible.”

Shirley nodded firmly and ran out of the room.

Leaning back against the pillow, my mind raced through every step of the plan ahead.

Dennis was an arrogant man. He was certain I couldn’t survive without him, certain I had no power to fight back.

Then I would use his arrogance to back him into a corner, and make him watch everything he cherished burn.

My moon stone vibrated—a communication request from one of the guards. I answered.

“Luna, Alpha just went back to the house. He’s in a rage, demanding we tell him where you are.”

“We followed your instructions and said nothing. He’s headed to the infirmary now to look for your brother.”

“I’m sorry we didn’t believe you. We were only following Alpha’s orders at the time.”

I let out a cold laugh. Dennis had finally realized things were slipping out of his control. He was panicking.

“Thank you. If he keeps pressing you, stick to the same story.”

I ended the call and stared at Dennis’s incoming request flashing on the screen. My finger hovered.
