Premature Labor After The Alpha Took My Hospital Bag Chapter 06
I didn’t answer.
I wanted him to flail like a headless fly, to taste what it felt like to lose control.
The door opened again. Shirley strode in with the test results, barely suppressing her rage.
“Melinda, you were right. That baby isn’t Dennis’s.”
I took the report, scanning the findings, and a mocking smile curled at the corner of my mouth.
“Dennis and Alina are both Storm Pack. But this pup carries Shadow Pack bloodlines.”
Shirley clenched her fists, cursing Dennis for being a blind fool—cuckolded and treating the evidence like a treasure.
“That’s not all. I also found out Alina wasn’t premature at all. It was a full-term delivery.”
I folded the report, tucked it into my pocket, and pushed back the covers to get out of bed. The moment my feet touched the floor, a vicious jolt of pain shot through me.
“Melinda, you just had surgery—you can’t be moving around!”
I pushed past Shirley’s restraining hands, gritting my teeth as I braced against the wall. Cold sweat instantly drenched the back of my shirt.
“I’m not going to lie here and wait to die. I’m going to rip the masks off Dennis and Alina myself.”
I changed into clean clothes, pulled on a face mask, and left the room, heading straight for the convalescent wing where my brother had been.
The moment I stepped inside, I heard Dennis’s enraged roar.
“Where is he? I’m asking you—where did he go? Who authorized a transfer!”
Hiding behind a load-bearing pillar around the corner, I watched him grab the attending physician by the collar, his face livid, eyes full of venom.
The doctor pried his hand away, straightened his coat, and replied coolly.
“Alpha, the patient’s family completed proper transfer paperwork. We have no authority to interfere.”
Dennis kicked over a nearby trash can in fury, but there was nothing he could do.
“Melinda, you’ve really grown bold. Playing disappearing games with me? Where do you think you can hide!”
He stood there heaving, chest rising and falling violently. He spun to leave—and walked straight into Alina, who was carrying the baby.
Alina’s face was pale, her eyes brimming with tears, the picture of someone suffering a grave injustice.
“Dennis, is Melinda upset with me? She even moved her brother away—does she never want to see us again?”
Dennis looked at Alina, a flash of tenderness in his eyes, and pulled her into his arms, softening his voice.
“Forget her. She’s throwing a tantrum on purpose, using these tricks to force me to go back and comfort her.”
“A selfish, vicious woman like her could never actually bring herself to leave me. Give it a few days—she’ll come crawling back on her own.”
Listening to his smug certainty, bile rose in my throat. Even now, he believed I was the one trying to manipulate him.
I found a small child sitting nearby, gave him a piece of candy, and asked him to deliver the blood report to Dennis.
The boy happily took the candy and the paper and scampered over.
Seconds later, Dennis frowned at the child, releasing Alina.
He unfolded the thin sheet of paper. The instant his eyes hit the contents, his entire body went rigid.
He stared at the results, pupils contracting violently, fingers beginning to tremble beyond his control.
Alina noticed something was wrong and leaned in to see the report, but he shoved her away.
“Dennis, what’s wrong? What is that?”
Dennis lifted his head, his gaze boring into Alina—suspicion and fury churning in his eyes as he advanced on her step by step.
