I Was The Fake Heiress—Then Found Real Heir Was My Ex Chapter 06
The Ex Who Changed His Mind
Preston came back three days later.
This time, he brought flowers.
I left them outside.
He called.
I blocked him.
Then he showed up at an Ashford Foundation lunch and cornered me near the terrace.
“Daphne, I made a mistake.”
“Yes.”
“I was under pressure from my family.”
“Of course.”
“I still care about you.”
“No, you care about my inheritance.”
His face tightened.
“You don’t need to be cruel.”
I laughed.
Before he could answer, Simon appeared behind me.
Preston straightened.
“I’m speaking to Daphne.”
Simon nodded.
“I can see that.”
“She and I have history.”
“So do we.”
Preston frowned.
“We?”
Simon looked bored.
“Vale Capital has financed three of Whitmore Shipping’s international deals.”
Preston’s face changed.
Simon continued.
“As of this morning, we don’t.”
The next day, Preston’s father arrived at our house personally.
He dragged Preston with him.
“I apologize for my son’s behavior.”
Preston looked furious.
His father shoved his shoulder.
“Apologize.”
Preston clenched his jaw.
“I’m sorry.”
Simon didn’t even look at him.
“Apologize to Daphne.”
Preston turned to me.
“I’m sorry.”
I smiled.
“Good.”
His father pulled him away before he could say anything else.
From the driveway, I heard him hiss,
“Do you want to bankrupt us?”
I looked at Simon.
“You’re petty.”
“Yes.”
“At least you admit it.”
