I Was The Fake Heiress—Then Found Real Heir Was My Ex Chapter 07

Why Didn’t You Marry Me?

That night, Simon came to my room.

He didn’t joke.

He didn’t call me baby.

He just stood by the window and asked,

“Why didn’t you marry me?”

I stopped brushing my hair.

He looked tired.

“I thought I wasn’t successful enough.”

I stared at him.

“You were already a billionaire.”

“Not compared to what I am now.”

“Simon.”

“I spent a year making Vale Capital bigger because I thought maybe if I had more, you would stop getting bored.”

That hurt more than I expected.

I put down the brush.

“The money was never the problem.”

“Then what was?”

There was no nice way to say it.

So I told the truth.

“I wasn’t looking for a husband.”

He waited.

“I thought you were hot.”

Silence.

Simon blinked once.

I kept going because apparently I hated myself.

“I liked racing with you. Sleeping with you. Traveling with you.”

His jaw tightened.

“But when you proposed, it became serious.”

“And you got bored.”

“I got scared.”

That made him look at me.

I exhaled.

“And yes. I thought maybe the excitement was gone.”

Simon stayed quiet for a long time.

Then he nodded.

“I understand.”

That scared me more than anything else.

“Simon.”

But he had already turned toward the door.

“I understand.”

He left.

I stared after him.

I had a terrible feeling he had understood the wrong thing.
