At My Wedding The Ring Fit My Sister Chapter 06
Throughout the entire banquet hall, my mother’s recorded voice played.
“That boy Adrian hasn’t had it easy either. He and your sister Vivian have been in love for five years. Because of you, they’ve been suppressing their feelings for each other this whole time.”
“Clara, listen to your mother. In your next life, let him and your sister be together.”
Then came Vivian’s stifled gasps.
“Clara, forgive your sister. Just tonight. He only belongs to me tonight.”
“In this lifetime I’ll never fight you for him. I only ask that in the next life, you step aside for me too.”
Dead silence.
Then the screen lit up.
Surveillance footage from Adrian’s car.
He pulled Vivian into his arms, gazing at her adoringly.
“The ceremony goes to her. The marriage certificate goes to you.”
“From now on, you’re my real wife.”
The hall exploded.
People shot to their feet.
“That’s the bride’s own sister?”
“Her own sister sleeping with her fiance? I’ve seen it all now.”
“Did you hear that? Even the bride’s mother was in on it.”
“The Moretti family has truly disgraced themselves.”
In the midst of the uproar, I removed my veil and, smiling, placed it on Vivian’s ashen face.
“Dear sister.”
“Congratulations on your marriage.”
My father charged over and swung his palm hard at my face.
“Are you trying to destroy your sister?”
“Whatever the problem is, couldn’t it wait until after the ceremony? Did you have to humiliate us up here?”
I sidestepped.
He missed, his body lurching, nearly falling.
I smiled. “Dad, let’s be clear. The ones being humiliated right now are you. Not me.”
“After all, the ones being called shameless are you. I’m the victim.”
Vivian stood there in the veil, white as paper.
She swayed, eyes closing, as if about to faint.
Adrian rushed to catch her in his arms.
That embrace only confirmed everything further.
My mother clutched Vivian, then turned on me, her voice sharp:
“Clara Moretti! How can your heart be so cruel?”
“She’s your own sister—do you have no regard for family at all?”
“Over a man, you’d turn against your entire family?”
“I’ve known since you were little that you’re calculating. You really outdid yourself—setting traps for your own mother and sister, using a phone call to test us?”
My expression went cold.
“Did any of you ever care about family?”
“Mom, when you were helping your eldest daughter steal my fiance—when Vivian was sleeping with the man I’d been with for ten years—did any of you stop to think that we’re family?”
“Over a man?” I shook my head with a laugh. “He’s not even worth that.”
“I just finally see that in your eyes, I’m nothing.”
I looked into her eyes.
“I never once doubted any of you. I never planned to test you with that phone call.”
“That night, it really was just a prank.”
“It just so happened to show me how filthy you all are.”
My mother’s face twisted with humiliated rage, and she lunged at me.
But Adrian stopped her.
He stared at me, face drained of blood, panic flickering in his eyes for the first time.
“Clara, you weren’t joking with me, were you?”
“Our baby…”
I gave a casual nod.
“Yeah, I got rid of it. Why?”
