At My Wedding The Ring Fit My Sister Chapter 08

That day’s livestream blew up across the internet.

Adrian and Vivian became infamous overnight. The backlash was overwhelming.

People dug up their private accounts, and the comment sections piled up hundreds of thousands deep.

“Oh my God, this is disgusting. Her own sister and her fiance?”

“I don’t understand—if he loved the sister, why not just break up with the younger one? Why insist on going through with the wedding?”

“Because he needed a front. The younger sister stands in public while they keep messing around behind her back.”

“This family’s moral compass is completely broken. They knew the eldest daughter was in the wrong and the whole family helped cover it up.”

I looked at the endless flood of comments on my phone, turned off the screen, and wheeled my suitcase into the departure lounge.

From that day on, I vanished completely from their world.

What happened after—I heard from a friend.

Adrian was fired from the Kane family’s legitimate company.

The reason: his personal conduct had severely damaged the corporation’s reputation. No severance, not a single cent.

The Kane family also stopped grooming him as heir.

A man who’d let his family’s dirty laundry air on a nationwide livestream had no right to be called Don.

And he and Vivian were already legally married.

They moved in together as a matter of course.

But the scandal was too big, too humiliating. They never managed to hold a makeup wedding.

My parents and Vivian couldn’t bring themselves to leave the house.

Everywhere they went, people pointed and whispered.

“See them? Those are the parents who helped their older daughter seduce the younger one’s fiance.”

“Unbelievable that they still show their faces in public.”

“Her own sister and the fiance. Disgusting.”

Vivian couldn’t take it. She started locking herself in her room every day.

Curtains drawn tight.

She didn’t dare look at her phone or go online.

Eventually, she was diagnosed with severe depression with suicidal tendencies.

She made many attempts.

The first time she slit her wrists, my mother found her in time. Six stitches at the hospital.

The second time she swallowed half a bottle of sleeping pills. Stomach pumped. Brought back.

A third time. A fourth…

My friend sighed at this point.

“Clara, you have no idea—last time I saw your father, half his hair had gone white.”

“Your mother has aged so much. She looks completely drained.”

“They saw me and asked me to reach out to you.”

“But I didn’t tell them where you are. I said I couldn’t reach you either.”

I smiled gratefully at my friend.

Who knew what they wanted me for? To find someone to take their anger out on?

Not a chance. Let them rot where they are.

Meanwhile, in one of the Moretti family’s old properties.

Adrian had just come back from delivering packages when Vivian tried to kill herself again.

Right in front of him, eyes red, she grabbed a fruit knife and slashed hard at her wrist.

Adrian lunged to wrestle the knife away.

In the struggle, the blade sliced across his thigh, leaving a deep gash.

Blood poured out immediately.

The fruit knife clattered to the floor.

Only then did Vivian come to her senses.

She saw his leg and started crying in distress, dropping to her knees, reaching for him helplessly.

“Adrian, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I just can’t control it. I want to die…”

“I can’t help it. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you…”

She sobbed and begged, hair in disarray, like a patient who’d lost her mind.

Beside them, her child from her previous marriage stood there, mouth open, wailing. Face beet red from crying.

This was their life now.

Poverty. Chaos. Not a shred of dignity left.

Adrian pressed down on his bleeding wound and felt a wave of exhaustion so deep it swallowed him whole.

He didn’t know why he was here. Didn’t know how things had come to this.

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. He wasn’t supposed to be with a woman like this.

And he certainly wasn’t supposed to be raising a child who shared none of his blood and did nothing but scream and cry.

Adrian thought of Clara.

Bright. Clean. A respectable career.

She’d been with him since college. She’d even been pregnant with his child.

They should have walked into marriage smoothly and properly.

But because of one moment of weakness.

She was gone. The baby was gone. The decent marriage he should have had—destroyed by his own hand.

And what he got in return was this wreckage, and a hysterical woman.

Adrian suddenly began to question himself.

Was trading Clara for Vivian truly worth it?
