Revenge On My Feet Chapter 13
Hearing that name, I fell silent for a few seconds.
I’d assumed it was one I would never have to hear from anyone again.
Mr. Renwick held up his phone and showed me the visitor log-in photo.
I turned my eyes away.
“I don’t know her.”
He nodded.
“She kept insisting she was your best friend.”
“She came in several times, demanding that I fire Desmond immediately.”
“I’ve already had Legal and Security handle it. I just wanted to ask what you wanted to do first.”
I considered it for a moment, then said,
“Just follow company policy.”
On the day the project was officially announced, Renwick Group held a press conference.
As WU’s project lead, I was expected to be on stage.
Before it began, I stood backstage sorting through my notes.
Desmond appeared without warning at the far end of the hall, his face drained of color.
“Nadia, you used to be terrified of people staring at your leg.”
“This is a live broadcast. A lot of people will see you. You can’t go up there.”
“Listen to me. Go tell Mr. Renwick you can’t do it.”
He planted himself in my path and refused to let me by.
I looked at him, and the whole scene struck me as painfully familiar.
Every time he used to make my decisions for me, he had worn this exact expression.
When I spoke, my voice was light.
“What are you doing now, Desmond?”
He flinched, and his eyes reddened at once.
“I’m not putting on an act. I’m genuinely worried about you.”
“When your old photos were posted on the school forum, you cried for days.”
“You always tried to avoid crowds.”

“This is a live broadcast. Can you really handle it?”
