Revenge On My Feet Chapter 18

Just as the lawyer was gathering up the documents, an assistant knocked at the door.

“There’s a new written statement.”

“The person who submitted it is named Grayson Vance.”

At the sound of my brother’s name, the pen in my hand went still.

In his statement, Grayson admitted he had overheard Renata suggest I wear the dress with the side slit before the graduation ball.

He also admitted he’d known it would humiliate me, and had handed me the dress all the same.

He set down, in clear detail, the video at the ball, Desmond’s reaction, and my public demand that they stop.

There was just one sentence at the end of the statement.

“I sided with them at the time. Nadia never consented, and she was not misunderstanding anyone’s kindness.”

My lawyer asked me,

“He wants to see you. Are you willing?”

My first instinct was to say no.

But the statement had to be verified, and so in the end I agreed to meet him once at the lawyer’s office.

When Grayson came in, he was far thinner than I remembered.

He took a seat at the far end of the conference table.

“Nadia, I’m sorry.”

“I shouldn’t be bothering you. But I can’t let Renata keep saying you agreed to any of it.”

I looked at him.

“Is everything you wrote in this statement true?”

“Yes.”

“If you’re called to testify, will you say it again in front of everyone?”

His face went pale, but he nodded all the same.

“I will.”

“I will.”

I slid the statement back toward the lawyer.

“Then that’s all I need.”

Grayson’s eyes reddened.

“You don’t want to ask me why?”

“I already asked you.”

“I asked if you were going to watch me be humiliated, too. You already gave me your answer.”
