My Fiancé Erased Our Nine-Year Mark For His Blood Servant Chapter 04
One Minute Won’t Kill You
By afternoon, several wedding gowns have been delivered to Adrian’s castle, along with two attendants from a private bridal boutique.
Adrian has me brought downstairs, where Sophia is already waiting.
“Help her choose carefully,” he says. “You’re about the same size, and Sophia is still too weak to keep changing dresses. You can try them on first.”
I stare at him.
“You want me to try on her wedding dresses?”
Adrian picks up a backless black gown.
“Start with this one. Sophia likes it.”
“I’m not doing this.”
His face hardens.
“Evelyn.”
When I still refuse to move, he turns to the attendants.
“Help her change.”
Two of them immediately step toward me.
One reaches for the zipper of my dress while the other grabs my arm.
“Don’t touch me!”
I jerk away and glare at Adrian.
“Are you insane?”
For one second, something flickers in his eyes.
But Sophia speaks softly beside him.
“Forget it, Adrian. Evelyn already hates me. Of course she doesn’t want to help with my wedding.”
Whatever hesitation Adrian has disappears.
“Stop making this difficult,” he says coldly. “Either change yourself, or they’ll help you.”
My hands shake with anger.
But in the end, I snatch the wedding dress from him and walk into the fitting room.
Sophia keeps finding something wrong, forcing me to change from one gown to another.
By the time I step out in the last dress, I’m exhausted.
The room suddenly goes quiet.
I look up at the mirror.
The gown hugs my body perfectly, leaving my back and waist bare.
Then my eyes meet Adrian’s in the reflection.
He is staring at me.
For a moment, he says nothing.
Sophia notices.
“Something’s missing,” she says suddenly.
She turns to one of the attendants.
“Bring me the silver accessories.”
My stomach drops.
The attendant returns with a velvet tray covered in silver jewelry—a body chain, a choker, bracelets, and delicate waist chains.
Sophia smiles.
“I bought the whole set for the wedding. I want to see how it looks with the dress.”
“No.”
My answer comes immediately.
“I’m not wearing silver.”
Adrian frowns.
Sophia looks at him, then at me.
“It’ll only be for a minute.”
“I said no.”
Sophia lowers her eyes.
“Never mind. I shouldn’t have asked. I know Evelyn doesn’t want to help me.”
Adrian’s expression turns cold.
“Put them on her.”
I step back.
“Adrian.”
The attendants hesitate, but Adrian gives them a sharp look.
“Now.”
They move toward me.
I fight them, but one catches my wrists while the other fastens a silver chain around my bare waist.
The instant it touches my skin, pain tears through me.
I scream.
“Take it off!”
But they don’t stop.
Another silver chain follows. Then a bracelet. A choker.
Each new piece sears my skin.
I twist desperately, but the attendants hold me still.
“Adrian, make them stop!”
He walks closer, his voice impatient.
“You’re a Blackwood pureblood. A minute of silver won’t kill you.”
The burning spreads deeper.
My knees nearly buckle.
“No—take it off!”
Pain suddenly twists through my lower abdomen.
Different from the burning.
Deeper.
Sharper.
Fear wipes everything else from my mind.
“Adrian, stop!”
My voice breaks.
“I’m pregnant.”
He freezes.
“It’s your baby.”
For the first time, shock breaks through his expression.
But Sophia stares at me with wide eyes.
“Pregnant?”
Then she looks at Adrian.
“She never said anything before.”
Her voice is soft, almost confused.
“Evelyn, you don’t have to lie just because you don’t want to wear it.”
“I’m not lying!”
Another cramp tears through me.
I gasp.
“Adrian, please. Take it off.”
His eyes stay on me for a long second.
Then his jaw tightens.
“Enough, Evelyn.”
My blood runs cold.
“We’ll take it off after Sophia sees the full look.”
I stare at him.
I can barely believe what I’m hearing.
Then Sophia suddenly sways.
“Adrian…”
He turns immediately.
“I don’t feel well.”
Adrian catches her before she can fall.
“Sophia?”
She leans weakly against him.
“I’m sorry. I just feel dizzy.”
Without another glance at me, Adrian lifts her into his arms.
Then he walks out.
I watch him leave while silver burns into my skin.
The pain in my stomach becomes unbearable.
My vision darkens.
Then I feel something wet running down my legs.
One of the attendants screams.
“She’s bleeding!”
Everything goes black.
Nearly two days later, I open my eyes in the private infirmary at Adrian’s castle.
The silver has been removed, but the burns still throb.
My baby is gone.
I close my eyes.
A tear slips into my hair.
My phone is beside the bed.
Several messages from Adrian are waiting.
The dress is chosen. The wedding is tomorrow. You need to be there.
Another follows.
Sophia wants you at the ceremony. Don’t make this harder than it already is.
And then—
Once this is over, I’ll come back for you. We can go back to the way things were.
I read the last message twice.
Then I turn off my phone.
No reply.
No goodbye.
Nothing.
I leave the infirmary and return to Blackwood Castle.
By the time I arrive, I finally turn my phone back on.
It vibrates once.
Then again.
And again.
Dozens of unread messages from Adrian flood the screen.
