My Wedding Dress For The Other Woman? His Regret After I Canceled Chapter 01
I walked into the boutique. And there it was. My wedding dress, the one I waited six months for, was on another woman.
And Kaelan, my fiancé, stood beside her, looking at her like she hung the moon.
The moment he noticed me, the smile vanished.
“Serena needs a showstopper for next week’s film festival.” His tone was impatient.
“As for you…just pick something off the rack for the wedding and stop making a scene.”
Serena nodded, pointing to an outdated gown shoved into a corner.
“What about that one?” she asked sweetly. “It would look great on you.”
“This way, we both get to look beautiful. Isn’t that better?”
Better?
I looked at my reflection in the mirror.
No wedding gown. No makeup. I’d spent a whole year planning this wedding, too exhausted to even recognize myself anymore.
And somehow, I wasn’t the bride anymore.
What a joke.
I didn’t scream. I didn’t cry.
I slipped off my engagement ring and placed it on the glass table between us.
“You’re right, Kaelan.” I met his eyes in the mirror. “Off the rack is fine.”
Then I smiled. “I’ll just find a groom who’s willing to marry me in it.”
…
The air in that room just… died.
Kaelan’s hand froze on Serena’s train. He turned slowly. Those cold eyes narrowing behind those gold-rimmed glasses.
“Vivian Vance.” His voice dropped. “What did you just say?”
I looked at his perfect face. And felt nothing. Just disgust.
“I said the wedding is off.”
Then Serena laughed. Like I just told a joke. “Oh my God, Vivian, don’t be so dramatic.”
She walked toward me, still wearing my dress. “Kaelan and I are doing this for business. This dress has way more value on me than it ever would on you.” She tilted her head. Fluttered those fake lashes. “You’re usually so understanding. What happened?”
Understanding?
I don’t owe understanding to a cheater and his mistress.
“Take it off,” I said.
She flinched. Grabbed Kaelan’s arm. Tears already forming. “Kaelan, she’s scaring me.”
And then he moved.
He shoved her behind him and glared at me. Jaw tight. “Enough, Vivian. Are you done making a scene?”
“Serena is our biggest asset. I invest in her because I’m investing in our future.”
Then he looked at me—really looked at me—and said, “You don’t even work. Who are you wearing a fifty-thousand-dollar dress for anyway?”
His voice was accusing. Contemptuous. Like I was the one in the wrong.
I kept my voice calm. I don’t know how. “That dress was made for me. Custom. And you gave it away without asking.”
“So what?” He laughed. Actually laughed.
“Vivian, get your facts straight.” He stepped closer. His cologne was everywhere—choking me. “I paid for it. Every penny. That dress? Your apartment? Your life?” He jabbed his finger into my shoulder. “It all comes from me. So don’t stand there acting like you have a say.”
I looked at this arrogant man in front of me.
He felt like a stranger.
He really, truly didn’t see anything wrong with what he’d done.
There was nothing left to say.
I couldn’t be bothered to argue with him anymore. I just turned and walked toward the door.
“Don’t you move.”
His hand clamped around my wrist. Like a vice.
“Let go of me, Kaelan!” Pain shot up my arm.
He yanked me closer instead. His lips brushed my ear. “Vivian, don’t be ungrateful.”
“Pick a dress off the rack like I told you to. The wedding happens next week. After Serena’s red carpet, I’ll fly you somewhere fancy to make up for it.”
His grip tightened.
“But if you walk out that door right now…” He paused. “I swear on my name—no bridal shop in Veridian City will sell you a single thing.”
I pulled my arm free. Red marks were already forming.
“Kaelan.” I looked him dead in the eyes. “You make me sick.”
Then I walked.
Behind me, I heard him laugh. And then—click.
The glass doors locked.
Click.
The heavy doors sealed shut behind me.
I turned around. Kaelan stood inside, twirling the electronic key between his fingers. Smirking through the glass.
“I said you’re not going anywhere until I say so, Vivian.”
