My Wedding Dress For The Other Woman? His Regret After I Canceled Chapter 02
“That’s illegal. Open it! ” I glared at Kaelan.
“Illegal?”
Kaelan sauntered back to the sofa and sat down, crossing his legs. “I’m just teaching my fiancée some manners.”
Serena leaned into his shoulder and shot me a provocative grin.
“Just give up, Vivian. He’s doing this because he loves you.”
I almost laughed. Almost.
Then Kaelan pulled out his phone and made a call. Right in front of me.
“Freeze all of Vivian’s cards. “
“Cancel her hotel memberships. “
“Call every car service in the city—if anyone picks her up, they’re done in Veridian.”
He hung up and tapped the glass with his knuckle.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
It sounded like a heart breaking.
“You’re nothing without me, Vivian. Not even a place to sleep tonight.”
He leaned back. “I’ll give you two hours to think about it. When you’re ready to apologize, get on your knees outside the door.”
Kaelan had the security guard throw me out.
Click.
The glass door closed behind me again.
The sky turned dark. Wind howled. Then the rain came.
I stood under the awning, soaked to the bone, shivering. My teeth wouldn’t stop chattering.
My phone buzzed. A message.
Your cards have been frozen…
Buzz.
Your ride has been canceled…
Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.
He wasn’t joking. He was really trying to break me.
But if he thought that would finish me, he was wrong.
I made a call.
“Summer, come get me. I’m outside the boutique on Champs-Elysées.”
On the other end of the line, she was crying. I could hear it in her breath. “Vivian… I can’t. Kaelan called my dad. He said if I help you, my company is finished.”
A sob.
“My dad locked me in my room. Just apologize to him, please. Kaelan was lost his mind.”
My heart sank. Right into my stomach.
He’d even taken that from me.
Through the rain-streaked glass, I watched Kaelan sip wine and watch me struggle. Serena knelt at his feet, massaging his legs.
Something inside me snapped.
Not broke. Snapped clean in two.
I wasn’t sad anymore. I was done.
I turned and walked into the storm.
SCREECH—
I hadn’t even taken two steps when—A black Maybach slammed to a stop in front of me. Mud sprayed up onto my legs.
The window rolled down. Kaelan’s assistant Mack stepped out with an umbrella. He looked at me like I was something stuck to his shoe.
“Here. Take it.” He dropped a garment bag at my feet.
The zipper was half open. Inside, I saw cheap white fabric. Loose threads.
A bridesmaid dress.
Mack kept his nose in the air. “Mr. Cross is feeling generous, Miss Vance. Serena needs someone to hold her train on the red carpet tonight. “
“Just put this on, do the job, and tomorrow your cards work again. The wedding will still happen.”
Hold her train?
The woman wearing my dress?
Wearing that rag?
I stared at the bag at my feet. I was freezing. My lips were blue. But my spine stayed straight.
“Tell Kaelan to go to hell.”
The assistant’s face twisted. He pointed at me.
“Vivian, don’t be ungrateful!”
“You think you’re still the lady of the house?”
“You’re nothing now! Without Mr. Cross, you can’t even afford a meal!”
He waved his hand. Two bodyguards jumped out and grabbed my arms from behind.
“What are you guys doing? Let me go!”
