My Wedding Dress For The Other Woman? His Regret After I Canceled Chapter 04
I didn’t put on that dress.
I threw it in the trash.
I pushed open the bathroom door and walked toward the red carpet holding area.
Serena was clinging to Kaelan’s arm, about to step into the lights.
When he saw me still in my wet clothes, his face went red.
“What did I just say?!”
Serena pouted. “Vivian, you’re ruining everything. Without you holding my train, the whole look falls apart.”
I didn’t answer. I just turned and walked toward the exit.
“Stop her!”
The bodyguards rushed me. One of them kicked the back of my knee.
CRACK—
I hit the ground hard. Pain exploded through my leg.
Cameras turned. Reporters raised their phones.
Kaelan walked up to me with cold eyes. Then he looked at the crowd and smiled.
“Sorry, everyone. This is just some assistant who’s been obsessed with me. She’s been stalking me for months. Now she’s trying to ruin Serena’s big moment.”
He waved his hand.
“Get her out of here.”
The bodyguards dragged me toward the exit. Toward the storm.
Kaelan wrapped his arm around Serena’s waist and watched me go.
“This is what happens when you don’t listen, Vivian. Sleep on the street tonight and think about it.”
They threw me into the mud outside the backstage door.
Rain poured down on me. Blood mixed with water on my knees.
I lay there in the dirt, watching them smile under the lights.
And I smiled back.
From my wet pocket, I pulled out a black encrypted phone. My fingers were shaking as I dialed.
Ethan Crane’s private line.
The one man in Veridian City that even the elite were terrified of. My business partner from the early days on Wall Street.
He’d begged me for years to leave Kaelan, all while quietly managing my billions from the shadows. But I’d told him I wanted something real. Something normal.
I’d been an idiot.
The line connected.
“It’s me.” My voice was flat. I didn’t recognize it. “The game is over. Pull every investment from Cross Industries. Shut down their cash flow.”
I paused.
“And…” Rain poured down my face. “Ethan, come get me, please. Tomorrow morning, I want Kaelan Cross and his company to be gone.”
Three seconds of silence.
Then his voice came through. Low. Rough. Shaking with rage.
“Ten minutes. I’ll make him pay for every drop of blood you’ve cried.”
I hung up.
From somewhere close by, I heard Kaelan laughing with Serena.
Still celebrating. Still thinking they’d won.
They had no idea what was coming.
Eight minutes passed.
ROOOAR—
The sound of engines cut through the rain like thunder.
Ten black Rolls-Royce Phantoms crashed through the festival’s security barricades. Armored. Impenetrable.
The middle car stopped in front of me.
The door opened.
A polished black shoe stepped into the mud.
Ethan Crane unfolded himself from the back seat, holding a massive black umbrella.
His eyes scanned the scene—found me on the ground, bleeding, shaking—and something in them just… shattered.
“Vivian.”
He dropped the umbrella. Didn’t care about the rain. Dropped to one knee in the mud beside me and pulled me into his chest.
His jacket was warm. His arms were solid. He smelled like cedar and safety.
“I’m so sorry.” His voice cracked. “I should’ve come sooner.”
I leaned into him. I was too tired to be strong anymore.
“Ethan. He has my bracelet. My grandmother’s—”
His eyes turned to ice.
“I’ll get it back.” His jaw flexed. “And I’ll break the hand that took it.”
He lifted me like I weighed nothing. Carried me to the warm car. Set me down gently on the leather seat.
Then he turned to his security chief.
“Smash all of it.”
