When My Eyes Opened Again Chapter 04
He pushed the door open and walked straight in.
Seeing me lying quietly in bed, “sound asleep,” and the glass of milk on the table completely “finished.”
Brady finally let out a sigh of relief. “I must have misheard earlier.”
Carmen’s voice was soft and low. “Hubby, that really terrified me just now. My heart is beating so fast…”
Brady sighed almost imperceptibly, speaking with helpless resignation:
“Have your brother draft a project proposal later. I’ll evaluate whether his business is worth investing in.”
“Brady, you… you agreed?”
Carmen’s voice trembled with excitement.
Brady gave a low chuckle. “Not scared anymore, are you?”
Carmen cupped his face and planted a hard kiss on him. “Scared, of course I’m still scared. Why don’t you bolster my courage, hubby? Tonight… how about you make it up to me right here in Mrs. Voss’s room?
Mmh—”
The rest of her words were swallowed by Brady’s domineering kiss.
I opened my eyes, watching them treat me as if I didn’t exist, passionately entwining from the soft sofa down onto the carpet.
My fingers clenched tightly into fists as I watched everything in near masochistic torment.
Finally.
Enduring wave after wave of heart-wrenching pain, I pointed the micro camera at the two tangled silhouettes.
Early the next morning, I was suffocated awake by a wave of hot breath.
Opening my eyes, I saw that it was actually Carmen’s brother, Lucas Jenkins, pressing his entire weight on me, impatiently unbuttoning my pajamas!
I shoved him hard. “Get off me! Who allowed you in here?!”
Lucas froze for a second. “You can see who I am?”
“Wait, that’s not right. Carmen said you were already blind…”
Then, as if realizing something, his smile turned even more lewd:
“I get it. You must still be obsessed with that night three years ago, so the second I touched you, you recognized me, right?”
“You look pretty damn fine to me. Since nobody’s in the villa right now, why don’t we make up for what we missed back then!”
With that, he lunged toward me again.
I grabbed my blind cane and smashed it hard against his head, taking advantage of his momentary agony to sprint downstairs.
I didn’t know if he had placed some strange incense in my room again, but my entire body felt completely weak, and halfway down, I misstepped and tumbled down the stairs.
Lucas caught up once more, grabbing my wrists and pinning me firmly to the floor.
I felt around and grabbed a fruit knife. “Don’t touch me!”
Furious now, he raised his palm high above me. “Even a younger guy like me is already coming on to you, so why you playing hard to get, big sis?”
My eyes widened, and without hesitation, I drove the knife viciously into his arm.
With a cry of agony, blood instantly splattered across my face.
Clutching his arm in agony, Lucas collapsed off of me.
I immediately forced myself up from the floor, pointing the bloody tip of the knife at Lucas on the ground.
Just then, Brady and Carmen finally returned.
Seeing the scene before her, Carmen let out a shriek and rushed over, shoving me away with all her might.
“Lucas! What happened to you?!”
The immense force sent me crashing to the floor, the back of my head slamming hard against the sharp edge of the coffee table.
Hot blood streamed down my neck, the searing pain making my whole head buzz…
Before blacking out completely, I saw Brady rush to Carmen’s side, desperately comforting her with tender whispers, his face filled with sheer panic…
When I opened my eyes again, I was lying in a hospital room.
Brady was keeping vigil by my bedside, and seeing me wake, he immediately asked with concern:
“Honey, you’re awake. How are you feeling?
Are you hurting anywhere else?”
I propped myself up on my arms to sit up, but a sharp stab of pain shot through my forearm, making me wince.
“What happened to my arm?”
Brady immediately stopped me and explained, “I was in such a rush bringing you here that I accidentally scratched your arm, but it’s bandaged up now. Don’t be afraid, honey, it’s just a minor scratch.”
What Brady didn’t know was that my vision had already returned, allowing me to see his shifting, guilty eyes as he spoke.
I could also see that the “minor scratch” he spoke of was already bleeding through, staining the bandages crimson.
