The Alpha’s Daughter Chapter 10

The Alpha’s Daughter Chapter 10

I turned around.

Cassian walked over and shielded Selene behind him without making it obvious.

“What secrets are you sisters whispering about?”

He reached out and took my hand. “I bought you honeyed berries. I asked them to add extra syrup, just the way you like. Come taste them with me.”

Selene knew Cassian was helping her out. Behind him, she gave me a smug smile.

I did not argue. I obediently followed Cassian away.

If I remembered correctly, Cassian would rebel tonight.

After eating, I returned quickly to my building. Outside, the territory was already noisy with shouts.

I heard Cassian’s private warriors were about to break through the territory’s defenses.

Father stood on the territory’s high tower, pointing at Cassian in fury.

“You traitors dare rise against me? Do you know this entire territory is under my control?”

“Take your men and leave now, or my weapons will not reason with you.”

When Cassian did not respond, Father softened his tone.

“You have lived with the Blackwood Pack for all these years. I have treated you well. My pups treated you like a brother. Why rebel?”

Cassian sneered.

“Are you talking about how your sons pushed me into the pond in winter and bet on how long it would take me to die? Or how they forced me to kneel and bark like a dog? Is that what you call treating me like a brother?”

Father fell silent.

He had known his sons bullied Cassian.

He simply had not cared.

“What about my Aurora?” Father said. “Aurora was good to you. Her feelings for you were sincere.”

This time, Cassian was silent.

He avoided the question and raised his voice instead.

“Alpha Rowan is finished. He has been cruel for too many years. If you continue following him, you will only suffer. Surrender. You cannot beat the men I brought.”

At that critical moment, someone saw me arrive.

The west wing had been left unguarded in the chaos. Mara had escaped and now pointed at me excitedly.

“Alpha Rowan, Cassian and Aurora grew up together. They share deep feelings. Tie her to the watchtower and use her to force Cassian to withdraw. He will compromise!”

Luna Evangeline shouted in fury, “She is your own daughter!”

Mara’s voice was shrill. “Of course I cannot bear it, but for Alpha Rowan, I have no choice but to sacrifice my own flesh and blood.”

Father looked at me hesitantly.

In this life, I had stayed by his side for so long. In the end, he had developed some affection for me.

I looked back at him in silence.

A moment later, he closed his eyes and waved a hand.

“Tie Aurora to the watchtower.”

I smiled.

The night wind whipped around us, blowing my hair loose until it covered my eyes.

I waved my hand.

A silver bullet silver shot out from the darkness behind me and struck Father directly in the heart.

Father’s eyes widened. He made a choking sound, breathed half a breath, and fell straight backward.

His confidant screamed behind him.

“Alpha Rowan!”

“Traitors have assassinated Alpha Rowan. Protect the territory with me!” My voice rang through the night. Under everyone’s shocked gaze, orderly footsteps and the sound of fighting rose behind me.

“Kill the traitors! Protect Miss Blackwood!”

Luna Evangeline’s personal wolf guard stormed into the battlefield.

Through my planning, those two thousand men had grown into several times that number. Cassian’s forces were no match for them.

I climbed onto the territory territory wall. After the captain of the guards had seized all the rebels, he came before me and knelt on one knee.

“Miss Blackwood, the pack cannot be without a head. Today, you avenged Alpha Rowan. The entire Blackwood Pack is grateful. Please take control of the pack.”

Everyone erupted in shock.

Mara pointed at me.

“She is a woman. How can she be Alpha? Are you insane?”

The pack elders who had rushed over also began objecting.

“If a woman takes power, the pack will fall into chaos!”

“How can a woman lead the pack? Absurd!”

My people spoke up for me.

“If not for Miss Blackwood tonight, every member of the Blackwood Pack would have been slaughtered. Why can’t she rule?”

“Absurd. There has never been a precedent for a woman taking control of the pack!”

“Then there is one now.”

A councilman stepped forward and pointed at me, cursing.

“Miss Blackwood, stop this nonsense. What can a woman like you do? Hand power to a man. Hand it to one of your brothers.”

Ah.

Another one looking for death.

I drew my silver pistol, chambered a round, and fired cleanly.

He was the third person to die by my hand.

Looking at his body, I swept my gaze over everyone present.

“He is dead now. Anyone else wish to follow my father into the grave?”

Everyone stared, speechless.

No one dared speak.

Only the night wind whipped at the hems of our clothes.

A moment later, my people dropped to one knee in unison.

“The Blackwood Pack cannot be without a head. Please, Aurora, take control of the pack!”

Others began kneeling too.

Slowly, more and more people knelt.

Before me, there was no longer a single person I had to look up to.

Mara went limp and collapsed to the ground.

On the territory territory wall, the voices rose like a storm.

“Alpha Aurora!”

Below the territory wall, Cassian had already been captured.

He lifted his head and looked at me in disbelief.

I walked to Father’s side and gently closed his staring eyes.

“Father, I will avenge you. Rest in peace.”
