My Fiancé Postponed Our Wedding So I Married The Don He Feared Chapter 08

But the sound of impact never came.

A moment later, the negotiator’s furious voice carried down from the roof.

“Damian Moretti! This is outrageous!”

“Using a dummy to fake a fall! You’re facing charges for disturbing public order and inciting mass panic. You’re coming with us!”

It turned out that when Damian lunged, all he’d pushed over the edge was a mannequin.

He himself had ducked into the rooftop fire escape.

His so-called death threat was nothing but a pathetic, laughable performance.

The onlookers were stunned for a moment, then erupted in condemnation.

“Is this guy insane?”

“That’s disgusting. Using something like that to manipulate people.”

“A man like that deserves to get dumped.”

Damian was taken away by firefighters and police.

His rooftop stunt ended in detention.

His business tanked in the aftermath, and the Moretti family’s reputation was destroyed beyond repair. Worse still, a Don losing control in public, faking his own death in such a humiliating fashion, was enough for the entire underworld to write him off.

During Damian’s lowest point, the only person still by his side was Bianca.

She devoted herself to caring for him. She even swallowed her pride and went begging to his former friends and business partners.

She believed that after this, Damian would finally see my cruelty for what it was.

Would finally understand that she was the only one who truly loved him and cared about him.

She even began to fantasize about marrying Damian.

She imagined that once he was fully over me, she could naturally become his wife. Become the true lady of the Moretti household.

One night, Damian was drowning his sorrows at home, drunk and unfocused.

Bianca brought in a bowl of hangover soup, attending to him with careful devotion.

“Damian, please stop doing this to yourself. Olivia isn’t worth it. She’s nothing but a cold, heartless woman.”

Damian threw back another mouthful of liquor, his eyes shot through with red.

“She doesn’t love me anymore… She really doesn’t love me…”

Bianca’s heart leapt. She thought her moment had finally come.

“Damian, don’t be sad. Bianca loves you.”

She reached out to hold him, her voice trembling.

“Bianca will always be by your side.”

Damian shoved her away, his eyes clouded with confusion and revulsion.

“Bianca, what are you talking about?”

Bianca stumbled back, her face going white.

But hope flared again quickly, and she said with desperate urgency, “Damian, listen to me. The truth is… the truth is, what I said about the date that day was all made up.”

She finally couldn’t hold back the secret she’d buried in her heart.

“I just didn’t want you to register with Olivia. I just couldn’t stand watching you two together.”

“I was afraid that once you registered with her, you’d never be able to leave her.”

She thought that by confessing the truth, Damian would be moved by her devotion. Would understand that everything she’d done was for him.

But she never imagined that her words would strike like a bolt of lightning, shocking Damian fully awake.

He shot to his feet, eyes blazing red, staring her down.

“What did you just say?”

His voice was raw, carrying a fury she’d never heard before.

Bianca went pale with terror, stammering her explanation. “Damian, I just love you too much. I didn’t want her to take you away from me.”
