The Heiress’s Revenge Chapter 10
In the main hall, Greyson was surrounded by uncles and elders. Handling them smoothly. Until I appeared.
Ivory wedding gown. Silver family crest. Skin glowing white against the fabric. Hair swept up. Sapphire pendant swaying with each step.
Greyson’s gaze slid down from my face. Stopped on the gown.
The air thickened.
His throat moved. He had something cutting ready. It came out as a cold snort. “You actually dared to wear it.”
His eyes still held anger. But something else had leaked in. Like the dress had burned him. Or like a chess player watching his piece jump off the board on its own.
Elder aunts exchanged glances. Whispering. “The bride came down by herself?” “First dance hasn’t even happened. The whole ceremony order’s ruined.”
Someone planted in the crowd hurried to Greyson’s side. “Mr. Rockwell. She just came down. All our… arrangements. Do we still go ahead?”
Greyson ignored him. Two steps forward. Stopped in front of me. Studied my face for a long moment. Then his mouth twisted.
“Forget it.”
No context. Like he couldn’t be bothered. Or like he’d rewritten the script on the spot.
He turned. Gestured toward the center of the hall. “Ceremony’s about to start. Don’t delay.” As if the man Kieran described—media lined up, humiliation speech prepared—wasn’t him at all.
The guests quickly plastered on smiles. Murmuring assent. Only Jasper and Dax exchanged a look. Dark. Unreadable.
Greyson didn’t glance at them. His gaze settled back on me. The coldness had mostly drained away. Replaced by something heavier.
“Thea.” His voice softened. “At first, I wasn’t ready. But just now, I understood something. We’ve been together three years. There will be many more. If that’s true, marrying early or late—what’s the difference? I’m here. I’ve come for you.”
Every gaze in the room fixed on me.
I looked at Greyson. Smiled.
“Come for me?” I repeated, quiet. Turned toward the side of the hall. “Then you’ll have to ask him if he agrees.”
