The Heiress’s Revenge Chapter 20
My phone buzzed. Kieran.
Long message. Rambling. He’d left Boston. Restoration work at a small art museum in some New Mexico town.
Last line. “Thea. I’m sorry. And thank you. For everything you did for me. Be happy.”
I didn’t reply. Blocked him.
Jasper left for South America last month. Running his family’s last mining project.
Dax supposedly opened a bar on some island in Thailand.
Skylar… last I heard, her birth mother remarried. Some middle-aged Texas oil man. Small ceremony.
I got back to my place. Saw a figure standing near the streetlamp. Him.
Cole stepped back tactfully.
The man’s throat moved as I approached. Voice dry. “I thought you didn’t live here anymore.”
“Something you need?”
A bitter laugh. “Rockwell Group’s withdrawal from the New England market. Announcement goes out tomorrow. Thea. I surrender.”
I looked into his eyes. Nothing left but regret.
“You didn’t lose to me,” I said. “You lost to yourself.”
He stilled. Nodded. “You and him… how did you meet?”
I glanced at Cole in the distance. “You mean the man who tore through Latin American financial markets four years ago? Codename ‘Raven’? He’s my driver.” My voice was casual. “Two months on the job. Drives smooth.”
Greyson knew there was more. But he couldn’t guess.
Cole’s original target was the Wentworth Group. Two months as a driver. Cover for close observation. Finding the perfect short angle.
I smelled the anomaly first.
And I was the one who, after that gala, slid a full evidence package—Rockwell’s illegal offshore capital transfers—across the table to this “driver.”
