The Heiress’s Revenge Chapter 21

The Heiress’s Revenge Chapter 21

“Wentworth’s a hard bone. Hurts the teeth.” I’d said. “Rockwell’s meatier. More juice. You and me, split the profit fifty-fifty. As for Wentworth—once I’m in control, Latin American clean energy channels. All yours.”

Cole had raised an eyebrow. Looked at the Rockwell dirt—more detailed and lethal than what he’d gathered. Smiled.

“Deal,” he’d said.

Now I looked at Greyson. Finished the last piece. Casual.

“Right. Forgot to mention. He’s taking my name. Paperwork just went through.”

Greyson’s mouth twisted. Hollow. “For the inheritance… you even calculated this.”

I didn’t deny it.

Turned to leave. His voice behind me. Barely there. “Thea. If you ever choose to leave him… I’ll wait.”

I didn’t look back.

Cole asked as I reached him, “Done?”

“Yeah.”

“What’d he say?”

“That I’m ruthless.”

Cole laughed low. Pressed the elevator button. “Good. Gotta be ruthless. How else would you handle a notorious speculator like me?”

I watched through the elevator glass. Greyson’s figure. Still standing there. Growing smaller.

“You’re serious about taking my name?” I asked.

Cole’s mouth curved. “What else? ‘Raven’ has been on financial blacklists in several countries for three years. Safer to take the wife’s name.” A pause. Rare teasing in his voice. “Besides. ‘Wentworth’s driver’—sounds better than Cole Jones.”

I closed my eyes.

Images flooded through me. The cold iron bedframe at the foster home. The endless etiquette lessons at my adoptive parents’ house. The first time Mom saw me. The last time, lying in blood. Greyson holding the umbrella over me. Those measuring stares at Wentworth Manor.

Then the last page of my mother’s diary. Those trembling words. “Thea. Mom loves you. Live well.”

I will. Not just live well.

Live as the brightest, most searing light in everyone’s eyes.

[The End]
