Trapped With The Untouchable CEO Chapter 06

Panting, Alexander stumbled over and pounded on the door.

“Hurry! Mr. Sterling is inside!”

The electronic voice cursed, the display screen instantly went black, and the spotlights in the four corners died out.

The sound of cutting echoed from outside, the door finally gave way. Blinding police lights flooded the warehouse.

Alexander snapped back into control, immediately grabbing his suit from the floor to wrap around me, shielding me behind him.

“Mr. Sterling! I’m sorry, I’m late!”

It was Alexander’s assistant, Matthew Hayes.

I later learned that after Matthew received Alexander’s signal, the location showed an abandoned industrial park.

But the signal was blocked, and when they expanded the search radius, they ran into road construction. The delayed arrival of the demolition equipment was what held them up.

“Mr. Sterling! You’re injured?”

Matthew rushed to Alexander’s side, his face instantly draining of color when he saw the bleeding wound on his forearm. “Call an ambulance, quick!”

Alexander didn’t speak. He just reached out to haul me gently to my feet, tugging the jacket tighter around my shoulders to cover my bare shoulders.

I could feel his fingers still trembling, though much steadier than before.

“Where are they?” His voice was terribly hoarse as his gaze swept toward the vent they’d used to escape.

“They ran. We only caught two lookouts on the perimeter.”

A police officer stepped forward to reply, “You should go to the hospital to get your wounds treated first. We will follow up on the investigation.”

I grabbed Matthew’s arm. “Where’s Mia?”

“She’s already been rescued. She’s in the police car outside, she’s safe,” Matthew said.

I breathed a sigh of relief, my legs giving out as I nearly collapsed.

Alexander caught me. The heat of his palm was still scorching, but much steadier than before.

“It’s okay,” he whispered. “You’re safe now.”

Once we were outside, I was still worried about Mia and insisted on going to see her.

Alexander supported me as we went to see her.

“Chloe, Chloe!” she cried, waving at me.

But when she saw Alexander beside me, she pouted. “I was so scared… Chloe, they used me to threaten you… Did I cause trouble for you?”

I forced a smile and reached out to stroke her head. “Mia, it’s not what you think. Are you hurt?”

She shook her head and tearfully pushed my hand away. “Don’t touch me! Do you know I almost died just now!”

That little shove was all it took. I couldn’t hold on any longer and fainted.

When I woke up again, I was already in the hospital. My eyes were heavy and sore, and I couldn’t help but close them again.

The IV medication cooled the last traces of heat in my veins, finally suppressing the lingering heat.

But the lingering touch on my lips and the scorching heat of Alexander’s body when he held me simply wouldn’t fade away.

When the nurse came in to change my dressing, I couldn’t help but ask, “How is the man who came in with me?”

The nurse gave a low whistle. “That gentleman is truly tough. He got five stitches and still refused painkillers.”

I gripped the blanket tightly.

Alexander’s wound was made to activate the tracking chip, and it repeatedly tore open later as he tried to suppress the drug’s effects. The pain must have been excruciating.

But in the end, I didn’t dare to go over.

Whatever had formed between us had started in humiliation and desperation, leaving only an awkward silence in this moment.
