Trapped With The Untouchable CEO Chapter 09

I froze when I saw the person standing at the door.

It was Alexander. He wore a black trench coat, the collar slightly open, looking as if he’d come straight here.

Seeing the scene in the private room, his eyes went ice-cold.

“Alexander? Why are you here?”

Martha panicked and instinctively let go of my hand.

“Ms. Higgins, this restaurant is owned by the Sterling Group.”

Alexander took off his gloves and looked up at the man beside me. “Mr. Mitchell, oh no, Arthur Mitchell, why are you here? Care to explain?”

“I… I was just… passing through.” the man beside me stammered.

“Are you close with Martha?”

Alexander stepped inside, step by slow step.

“No, not really. We just know each other, that’s all.” Arthur gritted his teeth, sweat beginning to bead on his forehead.

“So… were you and Martha the ones who funded the warehouse incident? How much did it cost?”

“Alexander, he just…” Before I could finish, Arthur panicked.

He grabbed me by the neck and roared at Alexander, “Don’t come any closer! Alexander, you made me do this! I helped your father build that company from the ground up, and you dared to fire me!”

Alexander’s gaze fell on my neck, his tone dropping below freezing. “I’ll count to three. Let go, and I’ll let you walk out of here alive.”

“Shouldn’t I be saying that, Mr. Sterling?”

Martha smiled and pointed at her phone. “I just set a one-minute countdown. Now, with a single tap, the photos and videos of you and Chloe will be blasted across the internet.”

Alexander scoffed and sneered, “You can go ahead and try.”

Cold sweat seeped from Martha’s forehead, and the finger hovering over the screen began to tremble. “You asked for it!”

Alexander nodded. “Yes, I did.”

The moment Martha pressed her finger down, everyone looked at her phone, including Arthur’s.

Taking advantage of his distraction, Matthew and the others rushed forward, tackled them both to the floor.

Martha laughed wildly, “I sent it, hahaha…”

A wave of dizziness hit me, and Alexander quickly caught me.

“Don’t worry. After you sent me the link, I had my team trace it back to the sending device and delete all the data. There was nothing left for her to send.”

“Really?”

I looked at Alexander. His eyes softened as he leaned in and hummed in agreement.

Only then did I realize I was leaning against Alexander. I quickly pulled away, my face flushing bright red.

I didn’t know if it was an illusion, but Alexander’s icy face seemed to crack a smile.

Soon, the police arrived and took Martha and Arthur away. But strangely, as they walked past Alexander and me, they didn’t look defeated; instead, they seemed almost relieved.

That made no sense at all.

“What are you thinking about?” Alexander asked.

“Why… why do they look like they haven’t lost?”

“Martha owes 15 million dollars in gambling debts.”

I was dumbfounded.

So the fifteen million dollars was gambling debt.

With Alexander’s help, I finally pieced the whole story together.

Martha had a prenuptial agreement with my father and didn’t have much money of her own. She gambled secretly and fell into debt, which snowballed with interest until it reached 15 million dollars.

So she asked my father for a loan claiming she wanted to start a company. My father refused, choosing instead to invest in my studio.

Later, upon learning that my studio was worth hundreds of millions, she set her sights on me again.

This coincided with Arthur being caught and fired by Alexander for embezzling company funds to gamble.

The two of them found common ground fast and orchestrated the parking garage incident.

They could make money through dark web live streams while simultaneously ruining the two people they hated most.

Now that they were caught and unable to pay off their gambling debts, prison had become the safest place for them. So, whether they were caught or not, they could avoid the people they owed money to.

It truly was a masterfully calculated scheme.

“Now, we just need to make sure their creditors know exactly where they are, and their ‘safe house’ will turn into a cage.”

Alexander spoke with breezy indifference; it seemed he had already figured out a countermeasure.

I nodded silently, saying nothing.
