Trapped With The Untouchable CEO Chapter 10

Trapped With The Untouchable CEO Chapter 10

“I’ll take you home.”

Alexander took off his jacket and draped it over my shoulders.

I still had his suit jacket from that time in the garage; I hadn’t returned it yet. Thinking of the garage, my face couldn’t help but burn.

“Chloe, I’m scared. I want to stay with you.” Mia hugged my arm pitifully.

I comforted her softly and looked up at Alexander.

Alexander frowned but didn’t say anything.

The car was quiet. Mia leaned on my shoulder and quickly fell asleep, her breathing even. She looked exhausted.

I watched the streetlights flash by outside the window, occasionally catching a glimpse of Alexander’s profile in the rearview mirror. My heart beat hard against my ribs.

This was the first time we had been this close since the incident in the warehouse. In the silence, the atmosphere inevitably felt a bit awkward.

When we arrived downstairs at my apartment, I gently nudged Mia awake.

As we were getting out of the car, Alexander suddenly spoke up, “Unlock your phone for me. I want to add my number.”

“Oh.”

I tried hard to suppress the flutter in my chest and handed the phone over.

“If anything happens from now on, call me immediately.” He saved his number in my phone and handed it back to me.

I took the phone, whispered a “thank you,” and led Mia into the building.

As soon as we got home, a WhatsApp message popped up.

“Be careful of Mia.”

It was from Alexander. He had even added himself on WhatsApp while he was at it.

I looked at the seemingly harmless Mia, who was holding up the suit jacket I had left on the sofa and smiling at me.

“Chloe, you naughty girl. You kept Mr. Sterling’s jacket?”

I didn’t know if it was an illusion, but I saw a strange emotion flash in her eyes.

No, that’s impossible.

Mia and I had been inseparable since we were kids. Over the years, even when we argued, no fight between us had ever lasted more than a day.

I didn’t think she would ever try to harm me.

“Don’t talk nonsense. I just haven’t found the right opportunity…” I said, feeling a bit guilty.

“Really? I don’t believe you!”

She tilted her head and winked at me. “Chloe, let’s have some warm milk before bed.”

I froze for a moment, then nodded.

A cold night breeze woke me.

The moment I woke up, I was being pushed onto the windowsill. Two more inches, and I would have gone over the edge.

I snapped fully awake and shoved the person away fiercely.

“Ah!”

Caught off guard, the person screamed and fell to the floor.

When I got a clear look at the person’s face, my heart sank.

It really was her.

“You, you, you…”

“What about me? You’re wondering why I suddenly woke up, right?” I looked at her coldly.

“Impossible! I watched you drink that milk!”

I opened my palm. Inside was a small piece of dense sponge. I squeezed it hard, and white milk dripped from it.

Thank God Alexander warned me, otherwise I’d be at the bottom of the building right now.

“Why did you do this?”

I stepped closer to Mia. “That night in the garage, you weren’t forced. You did it willingly, didn’t you?”

“Yes! I did it willingly! I hate that Martha failed.” Mia’s eyes revealed a deep-seated hatred.

A sharp pain twisted in my chest, and tears instantly filled my eyes.

“Why?”

Mia burst into laughter, tears also shining in her eyes. “Chloe, stop pretending you don’t know. As long as you’re alive, I will never be valued by Father!

“I peeked at Father’s will! He gave you 80% of the company’s shares, and I only got 10%!

“Only 10%! We are both Dad’s children, so why do you get to get everything? I’m sick and tired of always living in your shadow!”

“So you chose to team up with Martha to destroy me?”

I looked at Mia’s twisted face, finding it hard to believe for a moment that this was the good sister I had loved for over a decade.

“No, that’s not all!”

She glared at me viciously and roared, “Why is it that every man I want ends up wanting you, yet you don’t even give them a second glance? Why is it that wherever you go, you are always the swan, and I am always the ugly duckling?

“Why did you get to walk away completely unscathed that night in the garage? Why didn’t Alexander end up hating you, but instead start fall for you?

“Why does everyone love you? Even God loves you! Why?!”

I finally understood the root of her jealousy.

Dad’s favoritism, the men who chased me, my luck, Alexander’s concern—every one of those things had become a blade in her heart.

The police burst through the door. Following closely behind was Alexander.

“Chloe!” He called out nervously.

Seeing that I was safe and sound, he ignored everyone’s stares and pulled me tightly into his arms.

I was already on the edge of breaking, smelling the scent of cedar on him at this moment made me feel inexplicably safe.

I closed my eyes, letting the tears slide down my cheeks.
