Trapped With The Untouchable CEO Chapter 11
Because Mia was a minor, the case was handled differently, but attempted murder was still attempted murder.
Father didn’t blame me. He worked tirelessly to hire a lawyer for Mia, secured a suspended sentence, and sent her back to our hometown, away from everyone she’d tried to hurt.
I turned the nightmare in that warehouse into art, drawing an illustration series called Glimmer in the Dark Room, which went viral online.
As it was my studio’s third anniversary, I planned to hold an art exhibition.
While preparing for it, I went to the market to buy painting supplies.
Just as I walked out of the store, I saw a familiar black Maybach parked by the road.
The window rolled down, revealing Alexander’s face.
“Buying paints?”
I froze for a moment, not expecting to run into him here.
“Yeah. What are you doing here?”
“I had a meeting nearby. Thought I’d see if you needed a ride.”
He pointed to the passenger seat. “Get in. I’ll take you home.”
I looked at the heavy bags of paint in my hands, hesitated for a second, and got in.
The cedar cologne in the car was faint, carrying a cool, reassuring crispness.
After I buckled my seatbelt, he handed me a dessert. “I picked it up from a dessert shop on the way.”
It was actually my favorite mango and strawberry mousse.
“How did you know I like this?” I asked in surprise.
“If I didn’t even have this much skill, how else am I supposed to win a girl over?” He teased with a smile.
I couldn’t help but laugh.
The car was quiet. The sweet scent of mango and strawberry mixed with the faint cedar, making my heart soften.
“By the way, how did you know there was something wrong with Mia?” I asked while eating the dessert.
“When we cracked Martha’s phone, we found Mia’s chat history with Martha and realized something was wrong.”
“Why didn’t you just tell me?”
“I was worried you wouldn’t believe me, and I wasn’t sure I could bear it if you looked at me like you didn’t trust me. You are very important to me, Chloe.”
My face instantly burned. “How important?”
At that moment, the car pulled up right outside my apartment building.
Alexander turned to look at me seriously. “Ms. Bennett, will you be my girlfriend?”
I nearly choked on the mousse. I didn’t know how to answer, so I deflected.
“Why? Why do you want me to be your girlfriend?”
“Because you still have two of my shirts. I think that gives me a reason to come back.”
I rolled my eyes at him and turned to get out, but he pulled me back and kissed me.
Face flushed red, I pushed him away. “Alexander, aren’t you supposed to be an aloof, ascetic CEO? Why are you acting like such a shameless flirt?”
“So sweet.” He licked his lips, his eyes full of deep affection. “That reputation only applies to other women. Never to you.”
The evening glow from outside spilled through the window, landing on his profile, making him look incredibly gentle—nothing like the usually cold, untouchable Mr. Sterling.
Looking at him, I suddenly remembered his out-of-control kiss in the warehouse, how he had rescued me before, and the warmth of his embrace. A corner of my heart gradually softened.
“Alexander, thank you.” I whispered, “If it weren’t for you, I don’t think I would have made it this far.”
He gently held my hand, his palm warm and dry. “Chloe, I’m not joking.”
His voice was deep and earnest. “In the warehouse, even though you were terrified, you still thought to tear your dress to bandage my wound. At that moment, I knew you were the person I wanted to protect for the rest of my life.
“The last kiss in the warehouse wasn’t just the drug.
“It was because I had already fallen for you.”
I looked up at him. “What about before? Had you really never noticed me before?”
He shook his head. “No, I actually noticed you a long time ago. I’ve loved your work for a long time. I was your fan before I was anything else.”
I squeezed his hand in return. Tears slipped down my face again—only this time, they didn’t hurt.
I squeezed his hand in return. Tears slipped down my face again—only this time, they didn’t hurt.
“Me too.”
He smiled, reaching out to wipe away my tears. He leaned down to gently kiss my forehead, then pulled me tightly into his arms and captured my lips.
This time, there were no drugs, no threats—only two hearts finding their way back to the light after surviving the storm.
The evening light spilled over us, warm and golden.
I knew those dark days were finally over.
And this time, the story beginning between us was finally ours.
