You Mocked Me I’m The One You Fear Chapter 13
Ethan started bringing me breakfast every day.
Whenever I saw him outside, I walked the other way without even making eye contact.
Then he started showing up in my classes.
If I sat in the front, he sat in the back.
If I slipped out through the back, he got up and followed.
After dodging him a few times, I finally walked into one lecture, saw that the only open seat was beside him, and turned around.
I skipped the class entirely.
That was when other students finally started calling him out.
“Ethan, can you stop? Maya is literally missing class to avoid you.”
“Where was all this effort before she became famous? Now you’re outside every classroom. It’s weird.”
A girl in our row looked straight at him.
“She said no. Stop turning every class into another conversation she didn’t ask for.”
Ethan left without arguing.
A few days later, I wasn’t feeling well and he happened to notice.
By lunch, he was waiting outside my dorm with a small pharmacy bag and a cup of my usual tea. Inside were ibuprofen and a disposable heating pad.
“You used to use these when you felt awful. I had to stop at two places to find the heating pads you like.”
I looked at the bag in his hand.
“Six months ago, this would’ve meant a lot to me.”
His eyes brightened.
“Now it just annoys me.”
His face went still.
“I remember once when Vanessa and I were both feeling awful and asked you to pick something up. You came back with one heating pad because the store only had one left.”
I looked at him.
“You handed it to her. Then you asked me if I had painkillers in my room.”
“I’m sorry,” he said quickly. “I thought you weren’t hurting that badly. Vanessa said you were exaggerating—”
I cut him off.
“She said I was faking, and you believed her?”
He lowered his eyes.
“Did you ever actually know which one of us was your girlfriend?”
His voice was hoarse.
“I know I was wrong. I can change. You used to tell me you wanted me to spend more time with you, to pay attention. I can do that now. We can start over.”
I shook my head.
“No. And I need you to stop contacting me.”
The color drained from his face.
I turned and walked away.
