The Night I Went Into Labor His Stepsister Livestreamed Herself Bedding My Husband Chapter 08
Sebastian’s heart stopped.
He was watching, with his own eyes, a brute of a man beating the child he cherished more than anything in this world.
Something in him snapped. He drove his foot into the guard’s chest.
He’d trained in mixed martial arts. His accuracy and his force were nothing an untrained man could match.
The guard hit the floor and stayed there for a long time.
“Motherfucker! Who the hell do you think you’re—”
The guard was used to swaggering around the hospital untouched. He’d never taken a hit like that in his life.
Before he could even sit up, two more open-handed blows landed on his face.
This time it wasn’t Sebastian. It was the director.
The guard stared at him, bewildered. The director slapped him twice more, clearly trying to pin all responsibility onto him.
“You lawless piece of shit, don’t you know whose child that is!”
Sebastian gathered his little girl against his chest and inspected her wounds.
Her whole back was mottled deep purple. She’d been beaten badly, and more than once.
He said nothing. But a killing quiet had settled over him.
Marcus knew instantly this hospital was finished.
He gave a small gesture, and dozens of bodyguards fell into formation in two orderly lines behind him, awaiting orders.
“Search.”
Sebastian said the single word without looking up.
The colder he got, the more furious he really was.
Dozens of bodyguards fanned out. In under ten minutes, they’d found Vivienne and Ethan.
There was no sign of Stella.
Vivienne, holding a battered Ethan, shouted at Sebastian.
“What took you so long? They almost beat the child to death!”
“Stella’s in the morgue. *Go!*”
Julian was trembling like a leaf by now, unable to form a single word.
He’d never once imagined that Stella’s twins really were Sebastian’s children.
That that old woman really was Sebastian’s mother.
Stella had told him again and again. He simply hadn’t believed her.
The director collapsed to the floor, face drained of all color, gnashing his teeth at Julian.
“You *swore* you weren’t divorced. What the hell is this!”
Bianca ground her teeth at the thought of Stella having landed so well.
“She’s a bigamist! That bitch tricked Mr. Shaw! Don’t panic—once I expose what she really is, Mr. Shaw won’t spare her!”
The director exhaled a little at that.
When Sebastian heard the word *morgue*, no amount of restraint could hold his fury back.
He turned to his bodyguards, voice glacial.
“Not one of them leaves.”
He said it and walked out without looking back, cries of *please, please, forgive us* rising behind him.
In the pitch-black morgue, Sebastian found me curled in a corner, shaking. The look on his face was one of pure anguish.
His hands trembled as they closed around me.
“Stella.”
My severe claustrophobia had me hyperventilating. In my panic, I pushed him away.
“It’s me, Stella. I’m here.”
His voice cracked.
The man who ruled Wall Street was speaking to me softly enough to melt.
“It’s alright, it’s alright. I’ve got you. I’m taking you out.”
He lifted me carefully and carried me out of the morgue, step by slow step.
Under the daylight, I finally opened my eyes. Seeing his stricken face, I burst into tears.
“Go help Vivienne. And Ethan and Emma!”
“Please, go!”
He held me tighter, murmuring over and over.
“They’re safe. They’re already safe. Don’t be afraid.”
“Thank God.”
The tension inside me collapsed all at once. I sank against his chest and shut my eyes, worn to the bone.
Then something occurred to me and I looked up at him. And there it was—a faint, dangerous smile on his otherwise stone-cold face.
Oh, no.
I pressed my fingers to my temple.
Every time Sebastian smiled like that, someone was about to have a very bad ending.
“Sebastian. We live in a country with laws.”
He acted like he hadn’t heard me and draped his coat over my shoulders.
Then, in a voice I had no power to refuse, he said:
“No one lays a hand on what belongs to me.”
“If they had the guts to do it, they can live with the consequences.”
