Too Late He Wanted Me Back Chapter 16

Seraphina’s words were like sharp knives, stabbing deep into Jaylen’s heart.

The pain was so intense that Jaylen could barely breathe. He wanted to argue back, but everything Seraphina said was true. From dating to marriage, Seraphina had always been the one quietly loving him and protecting him. And what about him? He had protected neither his son nor Seraphina.

All this time, the only person he had desperately tried to protect was Cyenne, that liar full of deceit!

“Sera, I know I did a lot of wrong things in the past,” Jaylen said, filled with guilt. “But I swear to you, what I had with Cyenne was really only sibling affection. I never touched her, and I never did anything inappropriate with her.”

“I was only blinded by Cyenne. From childhood until now, I had always been protecting her. I was her brother, and protecting her had become a habit for me. Even later, when she was no longer my sister, I still couldn’t change that habit in such a short time. That’s why Cyenne was able to use me. One wrong step led to every step after being wrong.”

At that, Jaylen paused, and an expression of unbearable pain appeared on his face. Seraphina believed that his pain at this moment was real, but she felt no sympathy for him.

Because all of this was Jaylen’s own doing. He did not deserve sympathy at all.

“But, Sera, I can see Cyenne for who she really is now. I won’t be fooled by her anymore.” Jaylen seemed to sense the coldness in Seraphina’s eyes, so he quickly grabbed her hand and confessed to her eagerly, saying, “From today on, you’re the only one in my heart, and you’re the only one I’ll treat well.”

“So, Sera, can you give me one more chance? This time, I will definitely become the qualified husband you’ve always wanted.”

After saying that, Jaylen suddenly went down on one knee in full view of everyone, still holding Seraphina’s hand.

The scene looked exactly like a marriage proposal.

And Jaylen really did take a small red heart-shaped velvet box out of the inner pocket of his shirt.

He opened the box, and inside it lay a blue diamond in silence.

Since he was asking her to remarry him, of course the proper sense of ceremony could not be missing.

This time, Jaylen would not let Seraphina suffer any grievance ever again.

“Sera, will you marry me again?” Jaylen asked, gazing into Seraphina’s eyes with deep affection. “I swear to you, this time I will protect you with my life.”

It had to be said that Jaylen really understood romance. Going down on one knee when asking to remarry his ex-wife—this kind of romance was even more moving than their first wedding.

Quite a few people were already moved to tears.

“Professor Astriage, say yes to him! A prodigal who turns back is worth more than gold!”

“Exactly, and from what I hear, he didn’t really do anything wrong. He was just deceived by that scheming bitch, but now he’s come to his senses!”

“That’s right. Once a man comes to his senses and turns back, he’ll be utterly devoted to you, because he’s already realized that you are the most important person in his life. He’ll never betray you again for the rest of his life.”

The more people talked, the more excited they became. By the end, no one even knew who started it, but the crowd began shouting together, “Say yes! Say yes, say yes…”

They knew nothing about Seraphina and Jaylen’s past, nor did they know how much Seraphina had suffered, or how much hardship she had endured before finally escaping from Jaylen’s side. They were just watching a spectacle, yet they still egged her on to forgive him.

And Seraphina found the whole thing disgusting!

So she raised her hand and knocked away the diamond ring Jaylen was offering her. “I won’t!”

“Jaylen, I would rather die than remarry you!”
