Too Late He Wanted Me Back Chapter 18

As soon as the video came out, it caused an immediate uproar.

“Jaylen really cheated? He seemed so sincere just now—I thought everything he said was true.”

“Same here. I always thought Professor Astriage had misunderstood him. I never expected that heartfelt confession just now to be an act. He’s nothing but a cheating scumbag!”

“I’m confused. Isn’t Cyenne Jaylen’s sister? How could he have a relationship with his own sister? That’s too sick!”

“That’s why you should never believe a man who says he treats a woman with no blood relation to him like a real younger sister. A so-called sister is just a cover for the mistress!”

The people who had just been jeering and shouting for Seraphina to forgive Jaylen immediately turned on him and began condemning him instead.

The instant Jaylen saw the video, his face changed dramatically.

“Where did you get this video?” Jaylen demanded angrily. “Seraphina, did you hire someone to follow me and secretly film me?”

At that, Seraphina let out a cold laugh. “Jaylen, you’re overthinking it. I used to love you very much, but I wasn’t crazy enough to spend money hiring someone to secretly film you… Cyenne sent this to me a month ago.”

Jaylen froze instantly, then suddenly recalled that it was also a month ago that Seraphina had submitted the divorce papers to the courthouse.

“So it was because of this video that you started thinking about divorcing me?” Jaylen asked in a trembling voice.

“Not exactly,” Seraphina answered calmly. “I had actually wanted a divorce for a long time, but I couldn’t bring myself to let go. This video was what finally made up my mind to leave you.”

“That was probably Cyenne’s purpose in sending me this video. She knew I was a clean freak, and what I couldn’t tolerate most was physical betrayal, so she sent me the video to force me to leave.”

“But the most ironic part is that I had already made up my mind to leave you then. The divorce cooling-off period required a month’s wait, and when Cyenne saw that I still hadn’t left, she assumed she hadn’t pushed hard enough. So she raised the stakes—one week ago, she deliberately took Tino surfing by the sea and caused his death.”

Jaylen sucked in a sharp breath. After hearing Seraphina’s words, he had the dazed illusion that he had been bitten by a venomous snake.

That venomous snake was Cyenne.

He had always thought Cyenne was innocent, kind, and timid as a mouse. She had seemed like a parasitic vine that could only survive by clinging to him—fragile and utterly harmless.

But who could have imagined that this woman, who looked as frail and helpless as a parasitic vine on the surface, was actually a venomous snake behind the scenes?

She had stabbed Jaylen in the back countless times, and all the while he had been kept completely in the dark!

“Jaylen, after telling the lie about brotherly and sisterly affection so many times, did you start believing it yourself?” Seraphina said with a sneer. “It’s not that you didn’t love Cyenne. You just didn’t dare admit that you had loved a woman as vile as her.”

“You looked down on Cyenne. You thought a parasitic vine like her wasn’t worthy of you, yet you were drawn to her without even realizing it, and she filled your eyes and your heart… You’re not here now asking to get back together because you’ve suddenly come to your senses. It’s because you suddenly realized that Cyenne isn’t the innocent, harmless little rabbit you imagined. She’s a habitual liar, insanely jealous, and like a madwoman—so disgusting that the revulsion comes from the bottom of your heart.”

“So after finally seeing Cyenne’s true face, you suddenly noticed my virtues. After all, compared with Cyenne, the love I gave you was far more pure and spotless.”

Seraphina looked straight into Jaylen’s eyes, then stepped forward little by little, tearing away the very last fig leaf between them. “Jaylen, I’ll say this one last time: I would rather die than remarry a selfish man like you!”
