I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 09
The wind over the gorge was fierce.
Standing inside the safety barrier, I looked straight into Julian’s eyes.
He used to look at me with gentleness and everyone else with distance. Now, that gentleness belonged to Iris, and I was no different from any other stranger.
The ache in my chest flared again.
I lowered my head, waiting for it to pass. By the time I looked up, a tear had already slipped down my cheek.
“I was never allowed to lose control in public. When I was little, I was punished with a week of self-reflection reports for crying and throwing a fit. You felt awful for me. You told me joke after joke to cheer me up.”
“The older I got, the better I became at hiding my feelings. Only with you did I not have to play the part of the perfect Alpha’s daughter.”
Julian stood in the wind, no tenderness in his eyes, only discomfort.
“That’s all in the past. Why bring it up now?”
At last, the tears wouldn’t stop falling.
“Aren’t you afraid that one day, when you remember, you’ll regret this?”
He was silent for a moment, then answered with perfect clarity.
“I never regret my choices.”
I cried for a long time. He waited patiently.
When I had finally calmed myself, I took a pair of scissors from my coat pocket—the same ones I had meant to use on the wedding gown.
