I Was The Perfect Queen But He Forgot My Name Chapter 29

“When I’d lost my memory, I didn’t care that you blocked the treatment. But looking back now, whether you saved me or followed me back to the capital, what you wanted was a way into the royal family.”

Julian said coolly, “The money and arrangements I’m giving you are more than enough to repay the debt.”

Iris left in a daze.

Julian came back to me and asked carefully, “Is this acceptable?”

Iris had saved him, and she hadn’t committed a crime deserving severe punishment. If it had been up to me, I probably would have given her financial security and revoked her royal access, too.

But what did that have to do with me?

“How you handle your private relationships is your business. Our engagement was canceled long ago.”

He swayed slightly. “I never slept with her,” he explained, his voice urgent. “She stayed in a separate guest room the entire time. Owen and the medical staff can all testify to it.”

I knew the real Julian too well.

Until he gave Iris a legitimate status, he wouldn’t have crossed that line.

But that had never been the point.

“You stood in the rain for three days to win your freedom. Now we each choose our own futures. We have nothing to do with each other.”

He still refused to give up.

“If the elders agreed to restore the engagement, would you accept?”

I answered directly.

“No.”

A cry of alarm rose from behind me. Julian had fainted from his injuries and the emotional shock.

I didn’t turn back. I only told the Cedar Ridge Healers to make sure he didn’t collapse at our gate.
