He Chose Her Over Me So I Chose Myself Chapter 27
My adoptive mother didn’t answer.
My adoptive father said heavily, “June did sign an authorization after she reached adulthood. The foundation has the right to use existing archival material.”
My lawyer took over.
“That authorization was lawfully revoked. The notice was received by your side one year ago, and you never objected.”
The conference room went quiet.
Camille suddenly spoke. “I didn’t know they were going to use my sister’s image. I’m not responsible for the project page.”
I switched to the media photos from the wedding dinner.
She was standing in front of the foundation and university logos. Behind her was the same donation QR code on the screen.
“This was the project donation portal on the night of your award celebration.”
Camille’s face went pale, and she turned at once toward my mother.
“You told me you were only relaunching an old fundraising page.”
My adoptive mother stared at her in disbelief.
“You were the one worried there wouldn’t be enough attention from family donors at your opening, so I found a way to build momentum for you!”
“I never told you to use June’s video!”
They both started speaking at once.
Grant suddenly closed his eyes.
A year ago, they had sat around a long table just like this, crossing things off my wedding one by one.
Now the only difference was that the people at the table had finally begun shoving responsibility onto each other.
Before the meeting ended, the oldest board member opened the email they had received on my wedding day and looked at Grant.
“Mr. Hale, are the vow revision records and comments in this email genuine?”
Grant lifted his head.
Everyone was waiting for his answer.
