He Chose Her Over Me So I Chose Myself Chapter 28

He Chose Her Over Me So I Chose Myself Chapter 28

“They’re genuine.”

Grant’s voice wasn’t loud, but my adoptive father’s expression changed at once.

“This is a foundation meeting. It has nothing to do with a canceled wedding.”

“It had nothing to do with it at first.”

Grant looked at the media photo on the table.

“We were the ones who changed the wedding dinner into Camille’s fundraising celebration. We were the ones who asked June to go on stage and publicly support her. The wedding-story video was cut, and all the time was handed over to her project presentation.”

Camille shot to her feet.

“That was your decision!”

“You didn’t object.”

“That’s because you said June had agreed!”

“She said yes because all of us were pressuring her.”

At last, Grant said aloud the one thing no one had been willing to admit a year earlier.

My adoptive mother cut in sharply. “What kind of good man are you pretending to be now? You wrote those vows, and you’re the one who drove June away!”

Grant’s face went white, and he didn’t deny it.

One by one, the people in the room looked away.

I didn’t need to explain anything else.

They had already laid out with their own mouths exactly how that evening had gone from being a wedding to being a fundraiser, and how my silence had been used to endorse Camille.
