He Chose Her Over Me So I Chose Myself Chapter 30
That night, my adoptive father had his lawyer contact me.
“Mr. Mercer is willing to permanently remove the page, and he can also offer financial compensation.”
“What’s the condition?”
“That you withdraw your complaint to the board and acknowledge that this was only a staff error in reposting an old video.”
I dragged Grant’s written statement into a folder.
In the original wedding schedule, the Saturday evening “wedding ceremony” had been crossed out and changed to Camille’s project presentation.
Under the completed video file was still the content summary:
*How Grant Healed an Adopted Girl’s Insecurity*.
They had used my past to fabricate a love story while giving the real wedding to Camille.
And now they wanted me to sign one sentence—*staff error*—and turn all of those deliberate choices into an accident.
“No.”
My lawyer reminded me, “If you continue, the board investigation and injunction request will both leave a public record.”
“Then let them.”
The next day, the foundation removed the fundraising homepage but didn’t clean up the email newsletter that had already gone out.
